PNW 2021/2022 Season! La Niña ahead!

Yeah, I think the com is a better one to get instead of the hok. The way that the hok has the attached skin while skiing, you have to make a completely different turn with the pole. I think any of those skis with the fish scales that are fat and short are just about perfect for farming 10 to 20 turn lines
And by the way I’ve posted it before, but Sally wrote the book that has the classic Methow skiing in it (which has the explanation for the birthday tour), so that’s why that other guy is referencing it from her book.

Hopefully he's moved on to better pow.
He's still getting out. I saw him up there at least a few times this winter. And realistically I'm sure he got more days in than me. He has a different vehicle now so the plates may not have transfered.

Anyone been up to Crystal this weekend? Contemplating going tomorrow, wondering what the conditions are like.

Did a couple runs today. Top-to-bottom is done for the season, too much dirt now, so downloading via the gondola is a must.

Coverage in Green Valley seemed pretty solid still, people had carved a few deep wiggle runs underneath the chair. Maybe an inch of wet snow fell overnight.

Skiing was creamy, but visability was so low that we called it early. It was lightly snowing when we left.

Oh? Good to hear. Can't say I explore that much but looked like too much dirt to be passable if I didn't hate my ski bases.

Kinda conflicted about buying a stevens pass- I only got 5 days on mine this year with about 100 days of touring, but those 5 were good, with good friends. I just hate giving any money to Vail. I wish they hadn’t made it suck so much, I’d have not hesitated to buy for the rest of my skiing years. Good people in the rank and file and fun terrain…

~5 days per season? I would just purchase buddy passes.

Crustal closer on sweet rain corn, skied fast on the steeps, grabby in the guts, milk soup visibility until 11:00 or so, reasonable crowds before 12:00.
Light rain/mist in the morning gave way to improved visibility with a few light graupel squalls about noon.

Here's to the season of 7 months lift served for which I am grateful, especially April 2022.

Snorting Elk had the pond to skim, but it was small.

#nodownloads, snow was contiguous down to about 5k.

    Fresh tracks on Skid Road.

The snowline from the base. With a little work, they could have had top to bottoms.

PNW weather forecasting is more of an art than science as these guys are learning.

My weather app says 65 and partly sunny and it’s been pissing sideways rain for the last 45 minutes.

Haha... That looked miserable. I had plans to ski SW chutes last week but we canned it by Wednesday morning. My next weather + life window alignment probably won't come till July, I'm guessing the snow pack window will still be wide open at that point.

Anybody going to be around Chinook pass tomorrow (Sunday) morning? Going to be down there probably doing some solo laps on Naches in the probable fog and rain.
