The morning murk was impressive, inciting motion sickness wooz. Clouds blew in and out until noon when a few sucker holes appeared before it finally cleared before 1.
A heavily windblown inch filled some dips in between scoured ice bulges. Made for tricky turns.
Trees still frosted.
Iceberg was perfectly groomed from wall to wall and while compl33tly whited out at the entrance before noon, eventually halfway down it cleared up encouraging choice mondo honker boater ballroom turns.

I'm broken as fuck but chats with people who got laps in said it was 10/10 spring skiing today.

Tough call, skiing new snow or skiing that snow as “corn” in the sun the next day.

Hey - Was hoping to get some basic info for El Dorado for those who have done it before.
Big questions are: How much of a slog is the bushwack/boulder field? Is crevasse rescue gear required for this tour?"Poop is funny" - Frank Reynolds

That's cool plug. It's funny I was always under the impression that the Bday tour was referencing Sally rather than Don.

Re: Eldorado -
Relative to other things in the N Cascades, Eldorado is pretty straightforward. Not really a schwack anymore, there's a great trail (better than the trail to Boston Basin if you're familiar). Boulder field is great when it's covered with snow, so go soon.
I chose to rope up, some people choose not to, entirely depends on what you are comfortable with.

I heard the boulder field is melting fast. I was hoping to ski eldo this weekend but the weather doesn't look promising

Same here. It's called "The Sally Portman Birthday Tour" in the Burgdorfer book. Speaking of WA Pass OGs, anybody know what happened to Skier X (as identified by the vanity plate on his truck)? Always used to see him posted up at the hairpin with a big umbrella and bbq on his sled. Was a real fixture up there, but haven't seen him in at least a few years. Hopefully he's moved on to better pow.

Cool, I’ve seen video of him skiing those up at Sherman Pass. I’m tempted to get a pair for roaming in the spring
