    WSDOT did post their snow & ice priority plan, and it looks like i90 is a higher priority than roads like 410 and 542.

    Purple = highest priority
    Blue = second
    Green = third
    Orange/red = lowest
    Black = city maintained

    With that being said I'm sticking with my usual show up at 8:00am plan... never know when a semi truck jackknifes across all lanes

    I would guess I90 gets the same level of attention and staff it always has. Too much commerce and logistics going over that pass. All the other passes will take the brunt of the short staffing issues.

    It probably doesn't matter what tires you have. If DOT can't maintain it, they'll close it. If it's open but the summit at Snoqualmie staff can't make it up, they won't spin the lifts. I'm sure there will be plenty of skiing days this year, probably less opportunity to ski during or directly after big storms though.

    I'm just hoping it snows enough this year that the local options are in play east of the Cascades.

    If it really is that bad the State needs to do something drastic like using the National Guard.

    Because none of them have other jobs to do…
    “Sorry jimmy, after a year of crap online learning your teacher had to go plow the pass.”

    Using the Guard to cover up for state government incompetence is generally a poor strategy.

    Maybe I should buy Summit/Stevens pass if all the powder techs are going to be stuck on the wet side this season.

    Perhaps a new thread title: East Side CC 21/22 Thanks WADOT

    It's not state government incompetence. It's a refusal to pay market wages resulting in a labor shortage. The response of activating the guard thereby effectively conscripting teachers and firefighters to plow roads and drive school buses is just a reflection of the dystopian late capitalist nightmare in which we live.

    Agreed.

    But keeping I90 open is pretty damn important to intra/interstate commerce.

    We're not just talking about access to lot 4.

    Aren't the low wages a product of state gov incompetence?

    Ive said it before, and ill say it again... There is no law on the books saying you cannot slap a plow blade on the front of your own vehicle and get to plowing yourself. Im gonna put that job up on taskrabbit anytime it snows a bunch: "private plow driver needed to plow the middle left lane of I90 from Exit 38 to Exit 56. Must take venmo".

    Mt Dweebus updated their parking policy.

    https://www.crystalmountainresort.co...g-announcement

    including:

    Paid parking will be required for daily visitors at the area on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, whether with or without pre-purchased day tickets. Backcountry skiers and snowboarders, snowshoers and all other snow play visitors will also need to pay for parking after arrival via the app, by scanning a QR code or at one of our on-site, solar powered kiosks. Write down your plate number before hitting the kiosk.

    Parking will remain free for all visitors from Monday to Thursday. We actively encourage guests to take advantage of flexible schedules to ski or ride on weekdays when the mountain is quiet and empty. A Lot is still reserved for A-Plus parking passholders. All paid parking revenue will be utilized to fund free shuttle bus service from Enumclaw on peak weekends. Stay tuned for more info on schedules.

    ...ski or ride on weekdays when the mountain is quiet and empty.
    Ha...ha......hahahahahaha. What comedy.

    I wonder when they'll get the online parking registration up:
    Passholders must enter their license plate numbers online in our system prior to arrival and will be verified in our lots through the license plate recognition software.
    In my seasonal suggestion seasoning sessions of Crustal, I repeatedly request requiring snow tires to be enforced by WSP like they used to when it was run by the founders.

    As for vigilante plowism, that might work in Texas.

    If someone owns a plow and is not using it, any private citizen can sue them for $10,000 for failure to plow. The ski areas can pay the bounties.

    Nope, but they created this beautiful private citizen bounty loophole that can work on everything.

    Next up, suing left lane campers for failure to follow traffic laws. Screw the WSP!!!
