PNW 2021/2022 Season! La Niña ahead!

No worries. Thank you. I was a 22 yr old ski bum looking for a job that was there every spring when the snow melted, and one that would let me go every fall when it snowed so I could go back to what I really wanted to do, go skiing. 33 years later I’m still doing it, now as a career Fed employee. Never skied less than 75 days in a season during that time, some seasons well over 100.

It’s been a great work/ life blend and I feel very fortunate that I’ve been able to pull it off for this long.

Last night (Monday) there was still a line of smoke to the North coming off of the Bolt Creek fire.

On Sunday up high you could barely see Mission Ridge 40 miles to the South thru the Smokey skies.

Craxy how fast it spread at about 07.00 into downtown Seattle.

Just drove back to Issaquah and don't think I've ever seen it as bad here.

The switch to onshore flow can't come quickly enough.

Driest summer on record for Seattle area.

    https://komonews.com/news/local/summ...mmer-on-record

Makes me wonder about the future with climate change, the trees / fuel is so thick on the West side. I think wildfire will be a significant risk for communities like Snoqualmie and North Bend, so close to dense dry forests and historically high wind zones.

With another LN as a strong possibility in the forecast, can we please all agree not to J the season before it starts and prematurely post a 22/23 thread prior to actual Pass turns (not on grass)? The fact this thread wasn’t nuked when it was started is an affront to Ullr.

Cool, do you guys recommend Pro Ski to check the base bevel on my Billy Goats? I normally go to Pro Ski North Bend, but it's a haul from the city.

I've never had them do any work on skis. But wasn't ever blown away by their service when I've been in there.

Edit: Realized you were wanting to go to the Proski spinoff. Been a while since I went, they always seemed a little overwhelmed. Just move to North Bend, problem solved

I had good experience with them in the past. But twice I took in some beater skis for a base grind recently and the first time only one was done. The second both skis were base high when I got them home.

Sadly this has been my experience as well. Not that they did anything really wrong, but it was always a cluttered and somewhat disorganized experience. I want to like the place more than I do.

FWIW I’ve had bases done at Evo and thought the results looked very nice. Others may have a more refined take than I do.

Mike Tracy will never been known for running an orderly shop (IMHO), but I’ve had his crew fix some nasty core shots, etc. and always happy with the work. That being said, that was pre-pandemic, so not sure about his current crop of back shop lackeys.

Corey is running the back room for Mike and Michael. And although I wouldn't ask them for a race tune I've had them fix some compressed edges with several coreshots along the edges and it's still holding up fine. TBH tuning is not really their specialty but I have 2 soon to be 3 pairs of really really comfortable boots they worked on and they have given me some really great skis for stupid prices. That's my shop I'm going to stand behind them and the new location is much more organized and much less hookers and blow.

If you aren't mounting your own fucking skis take a lap
