Mining DOT data at Snoqualmie pass, 56% of the year's snowfall came in the 30 days dec9-jan8 (247"). 13% for early April. But in-between were 85 days jan9-apr3 only getting 87" of snow, over half of which came in one good late-feb week.
Lots of clear weather and stable snow for getting out in the backcountry though.

Couloir hunting yesterday, the heat kind of limited what we could safely do though.Click image for larger version.

    From DOT on Friday

Week 4 of clearing the SR 20 North Cascades Highway is in the books and our east side crews reached the Washington Pass summit, putting them about 10 miles east of our west side crews. There's still quite a bit more to do, though. With snow 8 feet deep on the highway at the top of the pass, they use a Sno-Cat and loader to knock it down and move it to about 6 feet deep for the blower to clear a path on the road. With only initial cuts in the snow, the entire road width and shoulders still need to be cleared and then guardrail and pavement repairs have to be made, as well as any other debris removed. Still no sense on when opening day will be, but when we know, we'll get word out.

WSDOT north and east twitter accounts are a good source. They had 10 miles to go as of Friday. So maybe this coming weekend if we're lucky, but probably more likely to be next week.

Yeah, I thought it was gonna be this coming weekend, but it looks like the one after.
Instead of waiting, do a slightly longer drive and bring your tent, motorcycle, ebike, etc. It’s become a bit of a shit show.

I haven't posted on here much in a while. This community has shaped my life over the past decade and change, from being a high schooler smashing bumps on Nash trying to find out what bindings won't pull out of my skis and stumbling over this place, to conceiving a dream, and accomplishing it, working at Mt. Baker for patrol, my dream job, and so much more.

Some friends made this for my family. We're bad at asking for help but we need it for this one.

We had a small house fire, lost our 10yr old lab, 2 yr old mcnabb, and puppy, and are now looking to tear out and rebuild. Not sure yet if insurance is gonna back us for the whole process.

If anyone knows any contractors around Bellingham that aren't booked a year out, that would be super helpful too. We're trying to get on someones calendar before we work through the insurance so we might be able to rebuild this summer

Donated. I lost all my stuff to a house fire once, but didn't have to deal with the extra hurt of losing dogs. Vibes C.

Donated. I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your dogs.

If you need structural engineering help on the re-build, don't hesitate to ask. I do this for a living and would be happy to help.

Wow... I'm so sorry, that's a nightmare. I'm glad the hoomans are safe.

I worked for a restoration contractor for several years and got to help a lot of people in your shoes. I worked with some good and a lot of bad insurance adjusters... PM me if you get stuck or need a sanity check on any of that.

I took a chance to take my skis for a walk yesterday and scored some primo spring corn on Blewett. The price of admission will be rapidly increasing daily.
