I've caused an inbound slide on accordian once. (It was open and there were nonreactive bomb holes.) Carried me in thigh deep debris for about 30 yards. Whole thing cracked like the picture below.

Oregon 2021-2022 Snow Flow Thread
Sunday, it required getting across the glide crack that stretched all the way across the face
It was like a little bergshrund - looked deep where we crossed
Skied pretty well for bomb scoured
But was likely more than I should be getting myself into given my current fitness. We were traversing looking for the friendly warm exposures and ran out of traverse.

Hey all, going to be taking the family to Bend this weekend from Reno/Tahoe. Just wondering what traffic is like in the mornings heading up from Bend to Bachelor. We talking I70 shit show, Truckee to Olympic Valley gridlock levels of traffic or what?

There isn't any snow in the forecast so I wouldn't expect traffic to the mountain to be bad.

Man, you are just happy as a clam, aren’t you? ;-)
I went up Saturday and the first couple runs I felt I forgot how to ski.

Ok, so this maybe a buzzed-me talking but anybody here interested in a week-long Whistler trip from Feb-26 to Mar-5? We can make the trip even longer and stop by Baker for a couple days.
I can make it affordable by keeping the lodging cost under $1K per person.... not slope side but within walking distance to the lift. Interested?

Sounds fun but there’s a scheduling conflict, all are invited.

I had one of the best pow-days at Silver a few years back... have fun.
There is also a little hill called Lookout pass that I hit a day before on pow-days... Idaho definitely have some good skiing.

If you get to the roundabout at NW Crossing by 0715 traffic will be easy and mostly locals. Biggest risk is getting caught behind a touron crash, esp. on the curves below Wanoga gravel pit.
And on that subject I followed a Prius with CA plates down the hill today at 1:30 who had the cruise control set at 45mph…

It's better a little to the left. Survived it once, doubt I could ski it that well again. Glad my friends knew the line.

Concur that you don't want to wait much later than 7:15 to get through that last round-about; on a good snow day, I aim for earlier. It's kind of been interesting watching the evolution of traffic on the way to Bachelor. Seems like the new thing is a lot more westside folks turning right onto Cascade Lakes at Tethrow. Wouldn't be surprised if you see a round-about put in there in the next 2-3 years.
