facts. I talked to him at the tailgate party a few weeks ago and he kept up the ongoing narrative that it was down to 2 buyers and that the sale would be finalized soon. He did confirm it's not Vail (thank god). I'm betting more info. will come out in the next month or so.
I asked him if he'd be staying on as the GM, he said his main goal is to make a successful transition to the new ownership group, and then he'd be reassessing everything based on personal/family stuff. I'd hate to see him go, the guy has done a fantastic job with Jay and truly knows how to run a resort with class.my head is perpetually in the clouds

Very similar to what we discussed.
I sensed he would stay. He told me his original commitment (7 years ago) was to stay until Jay was sold, and he never wavered on that point. He turned down at least one CHERRY job in that time. He never committed beyond that point because he didn't know who the new owners would be.
I sensed he was ok with either of the remaining buyers. They seemed be giving him the freedom to continue to operate as they have been. (They have been successful. With ZERO Canada this year they did very well.)
He's made some real changes in the way Jay operates, especially during covid and many of those changes will be permanent.
Indy Pass may well be part of the future too.
You are right his girls with both be in college soon, where they end up could affect what he does.Last edited by Harvey44; 05-06-2022 at 05:49 PM.

On the Jay chatter, keep in mind a VC buyer is likely in it to flip it to a Vail-type buyer in a year or two. I would love to be wrong.

No lift service at Sunday River, but for the second weekend in May, things are skiing pretty well. They have plowed some work roads, so there's that, but Ecstacy to Cascades had only a small discontinuity at Grand Junction. I'm hoping that between that and Right Stuff, I'll be able to get into June with sufficiently low expectations. Normally I'd be looking to Jordan and maybe leftover piles on T72 this time of year, but construction has that side of things out of bounds.

Slack season opens Saturday at 9am. Now I've got to figure out what my weekend plans are, because I wasn't expecting that.

Anyone going to Killington tomorrow? For some reason my son wants to ski in 80 degree temps (probably because he isn't ashamed to expose his arms). I'll be there sweating in a long sleeve.
