Skied Killington Monday/Tuesday for Dad's birthday. Spring mush on Monday and gun Superstar pow on Tuesday. Exceeded expectations! We laughed as on Tuesday a power outage on Tuesday led to delayed opening. The Ikonic curse. Ungroomed / non snowmaking runs looked ready for mountain biking.
really sorry to hear about your grandmother and that engine blow in Nebraska, sounds like a tough season overall but hopefully attempt #3 is more successful for some spring time shreddin'. Glad that the trip to the Beast with your pops was a good one tho, Superstar should last into May with them blowing more snow so if you find yourself up that way with the van let me know, I'll come camp out next to ya in the Ritz Carlton Grand Cherokee and we'll crush some laps/beers. Bike season is approaching too quickly for me this year, I'm not ready to hang up the skis yet.

That was a great sleeper pow day at Magic. Please come back soon and bring that snow with you again.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and words. We've been dealing with this for almost 16 years now. Very fortunate to have the best docs in the world (first at Sloane-Kettering and now at Dana-Farber) taking care of her.

The good news is that this is a fairly new regimen with significantly reduced side-effects. After the last round, she said she'd never go through that again.

36º with clearing skies bob. Raining bob until 15 minutes ago w/snow falling mid > upper mountain. snorth closing Sunday and touring freeforall starts with the exception of the Inverness pod. Would expect GH pod to close as well as there are many spots that are burning out quickly. We then go to wins legacy dumb spring hours, 10-5 midweek, 9-5 weekend w/ bravo the only lift 4-5pm. MRG closed all week, maybe opening this weekend w/ todays report still not saying yes/no. Stowe closing up shop on the 17th.
Running low on sugar for the lemonade, had to cut it down to one spoonful, but hopeful to get 70 days this season. Fo'cast does look weak for quality skiing next week, zwift seems likely.

Thinking of dawn patrol tomorrow TRT to Sherbie, anyone been lately? Still skinable from the lot or hike then switch to the skins?

Don’t have a full day so not gonna bother venturing to the high alpine.

Solo long board day. After a few turns, I was right at home on the 30 year old tech. Well...not really. A kid with pink Full Tilts said he liked my drip, so I must be cool.

Forgot how to use a GoPro. Wide angle, what's that?

For real though, the plastic bindings held up.

    .
A student rode past me on a vintage Specialized Stumpjumper in that same color scheme yesterday. I had to look it up. Turns out it was an ‘88, probably her dads first mountain bike. She likely has no idea of the value.

Is there value beyond sentimental? I have my '89 stumpy comp frame/fork still in my basement...and I don't know why.

    I’m bringing back my stumpy comp. I think it’s 86 or 87.

    White and pinkish something?

But tange prestige tubing Japanese welded.

Was thinking gravel. But groad is easier.

Brodie was cool, I remember a lot of steepish roll overs that were perfect for launching clean long airs. As I remember Jiminy, had steeper sections but Brodie had overall more continuous pitch trails. What made Brodie cool was the scene.

You’re probably right. Why don’t I just grab that frame and fork from you to clear out the basement.

    Watch this transition.

As lifelong bmx rider my only way of getting through long hours of hiking around the northeast with the family was visualize riding the trails we trudged up and down on my bike. If only there was a capable vehicle for this purpose. When I got wind of mountain biking it was a grand revelation, genius!

Bought my first Stumpjumper in 87? ( all black of course ) after devouring the single track on the local ridges I headed north for jiminy peak. The ski area I grew up on was just waiting for me , the perfect playground if you will. I’d simply ride up west way or left bank and bomb back down. Holy shit I realized once I got there these greens are steep! Well I got to the top eventually and ended up absolutely flying back down the power lines off the back at who knows what speed.

So, that Stumper turned out to be pretty valuable as some clown stole it out of my garage in steamboat in 89. And, Jiminy is pretty steep, especially when your tryin to pedal up the greens.

Damn I wish I still had that bike.

But don’t even look at my Hoo Koo e Koo….

    #endmemorylaneblogthreadweave

Guess it’s time to go to work.

Cooled off last night with 1/4" of snow this morning, currently 34º bob. Slept in so GH opening is the call, bummed they did't flatten Sunrise as that works well for top2bottom runs on that pod. Hopefully it warms up soon.

Gaper day on the horizon, MV5s getting waxed this week, where's my saucer.
