At least you got a spot before 9? That sucks tho. I read a story of someone sitting in that traffic but an hour later than you, an hour more traffic, with the wife & kids, and they forgot the roof box key... the kind of mistake you only make once.

Glad I skipped the Stowe parade. My nephew came up and wanted to do some bc skiing.

    I think he is hooked.

Nice! Much similar experience at MSS last night. Good way to close out the weekend.

edit to add: the crust in the woods was brutal. groomers only.

The telemark race at Bromley is a Sprint Classic. 2 runs through GS gates, a jump, and a reipelokke (360 degree banked turn). The course was rough this year with icy conditions including frozen water between gates towards the bottom!

    Getting ready for takeoff.

Nice! Do the gate judges still make sure that there is a boots length of separation between the leading foot and trailing foot at the gate? I remember that being a requirement when working US Telemark Nationals years ago... trying to explain that to the volunteer gatekeepers was entertaining.

Props for skiing at night, not sure if I could do that. And Powder was found ^^^^^!! Great that you got out Singlecross.

I poked around the backyard to see how the fluff had bonded and was pleasantly surprised

So Lurker Jerry and I headed out for 6 1/2 hrs of shuffling for turns.

This was a low point due to cracking, barely avoided a full boot sinking. Thankfully it was warm enough to scrape the skins off, brush slush out of the toes and continue the tour.

Yup - gate judges, jump judges (have to carry to a set line or get penalty), have to land in a tele stance or get penalty, etc.

Cool! Glad you got in there. I’ve acquired some 3pin boots and hammerheads to assemble a Tele setup again. Deciding what ski to mount up in the near future and practicing my Curtsy.

Do you still have to do aquavit shooters and gjetost crackers or was that a Kåre sponsored activity?

Karl Erik has kept up that tradition but mostly he’s found serving them up in various sugar houses in the Landgrove flats. You have to sing the little Perla song before shots though.

Val (Kare’s partner) is now deep in her ‘90s and is still up on the mountain gathering bibs post race and then handing out homemade fyrstekaka at the awards ceremony.

    I had the same question!
So did skiers actually get called for fake-a-mark turns?

Great morning at the Bush with my 6 year old. Those squalls yesterday made for some choice turns.

They’re also back to blowing snow which was unexpected - looks like running bumps in May is back on the menu.

East Coast Roll Call 21-22 We have a hot date with Skadi, Pictures at 11

Yup…the snow squalls and wind were great for a refresh. Knee deep fluff on north facing hills. Almost felt like winter.

I have a couple good pics but crapatalk won’t upload the.

    Just use your imaginations.
