So far snow on Mansfield has been almost a mirror of last year. However, here in the NEK we didn't get last week's storm (we got a 6 inch shot from a mid-late January storm last year) to boost things up to a level that is usable.

    This has to improve... right?

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

We found about 2” of new dandelion fluff on the shoulder of Mansfield this afternoon. It’s still a little too shallow to charge but it was at least as fun as I have been promised skiing is.

Back at the truck the temps read 11f. It sure didn’t feel that cold in the skin track.

    That's ridiculously crappy. Lowlife.

That being said the safeman locks are fantastic; small, quick, easy, and bombproof.

So I'm looking to upgrade from my pocket rockets.. Anyone have anything that they are looking to get rid of in a 175-185 with clamps? Should have jumped on SoVT Joey's Corvus when I saw them!

Any mags plan on being at Sugarbush next week? I'll be there for the first time Tues/Weds/Thurs. Anyone wanna give a knuckledragger the nickel tour? I haven't been active on here in a few years, but my buddy Bob the Baker of BBI fame can vouch for me. Change for a nickel available upon request.

3º bob -12º summit under blue sky with a light breeze.

We completely missed yesterdays snow grabbing that 35% chance of not getting the .1" of snow. Weird day under the clouds yesterday with the temp staying between 3º-6º base and -4º -6 summit with no wind low. Of course the freight trains of random gale force wind arrived at 5pm. The low spots in the yard have a coating of brown sand on them.

Enjoy the snow to the east!

Ragged reported 5, but hard to say with the winds that came rolling in. Showed up around 1:30, to zero lines.
The previous storm made for a good base, and they opened most of the glades.

    wow nice!
clearly your plan was better than my plan.

my plan; dust (mostly blowing over / often obscuring) hard/fast crust.
    some pockets /some scary ice.
    coldest ski outing in years.
    fun nonetheless.

I don’t often backcountry ski Acadia, but when it’s up to the lawn furniture, I do. More of a novelty really, but always nice to get outdoors on a sunny day. First tracks at 1pm… what crowds?
