Very good stuff. That freehanging rappel off the serac was WILD.

That was sweet. I wonder if his pole and axe were attached somehow or if he was carrying both loose in one hand

I also thought that a bit odd. I much prefer a whippet.

So so so good. Big ups to Smoothy getting this done. I've had friends attempt this way back but to get the snowpack, weather, etc to line up perfectly is nearly impossible.

i couldn't hear anything in the video because the sound of their balls clanging together was too loud - that serac rappel was something else. i would hate to be underneath that thing for any real amount of time.

I've done a long voile strap to put an axe and pole together. Not as rigid as a whippet but for times when you might want an axe to climb.

+1, I've done the same but with two voile straps. Apart from it being awkward to hold, it worked fine.

Thanks for posting that up. Line of the year IMO. Takes some serious balls to ski that line. Even a lot of risky lines have an allure to them. Looking at that face I feel no desire to even contemplate a mental line down it. Certainly qualifies as extreme skiing!

makes sense. it's not like it was a mountaineering axe it was aggressive

Made it look easy. Such burly exposure.

Snow looked perfect for the line. Way to snipe the weather window!

I’ve been to the base of that face and it didn’t even occur to me that it could be skied. Wtf.
