Thread: 2021/22 BC Southern Interior

I got stuck on the wrong side of the washouts in November. Ended up coming down to WA over the I-90 and back up. I would recommenced that route. Even though Hwy 3 in BC is open again, it's not back to fully repaired. I thought the southern route was easier and more relaxing, might even go that way in the future sometimes when I don't have to.

The heavy commercial traffic did a number on Highway 3 - plenty of reports of tire puncturing and rim bending potholes.

Thank you all for sharing your suggestions. Much appreciated. I’m looking forward to returning to the interior!

62cm overnight at whitewater! Woot! Rode bell to bell with no breaks, yeah it was a day.
That is our 2nd 60cm day this season. Dec 27 was the 1st, though it was due to a power outage so no lifts on Dec 26, but whatever I'll take it however it comes.
So far this season is shaping up to be pretty epic!

Just want to say thank you and pay my compliments to this corner of the continent.
Since Christmas Day I’ve logged three lift-served, one cat skiing, and seven human powered ski days up here and they’ve all been memorable. My legs are cooked, my mind is blown, it’s my birthday and I have a crush on a lady bartender in my last stop on this whirlwind pilgrimage. Sick, and ashamed and happy sums it up nicely.
Buncha lucky motherfuckers.

I caught that day on my first day ever at whitewater, went south from Revy on a whim Sunday as a friend backed out from touring the pass.
A good first impression I’d say! The terrain is perfect for that amount of snow, best skiing day I’ve ever had! And the vibe of everyone there was top notch.

Looking for a ride from Rossland/Trail to Spokane or Seattle some time between the 10th and 17th (schedule is flexible) in case anyone is headed that way already and is down for some company + gas money.

How was the skiing at Whitewater today?
It looks like the snow level today was around or just above base.
Did it rain at bottom or just heavy snow?
Hoping to visit this Sat/Sun with my lady.

Found the answer to my own question about conditions at Whitewater if anyone else is wondering.

Welp, lodging is booked and hopefully it softens up a bit by Saturday. At least the crust isn't super burly.

ww is zipper crust over heavy snow. Nasty in the trees/untracked but sounds cool. Groomers are ok.

Touring in the Valhallas yesterday, with a zipper crust over dense powder on all aspects and at all elevations. Skied steep trees, which were surprisingly consistent and fun.

Heading up Tuesday night. Will be at WW Wednesday and Thursday. Sounds like I should bring some skis that are less powder specific. Going to be at Baldface Friday to Sunday- curious what it will ski like.
