Or I could just skip the hovercraft and go straight for a heli.

Or maybe one of those James Bond jetpack things ?

    Lots of fun options.

I think you should ice road a kubota out there with a bunch of attachments, skid a tuff shed, a bunch of fuel, and a bunch of supplies. Then get after it next summer. Ice road season is going to be key.

This is very solid advice. Will be much easier transporting materials over ice.

Have you watched the Jean Aspen movie 'Arctic Daughter'? It is on Prime right now. She goes through her life going to Alaska and building two cabins from scratch out of canoes. The first with her first husband and then she did it again when she remarried. A bit corny and spiritual but these are some bad asses. Like Into the Wild but they actually succeeded....twice.

On a lake, you want to plow the insulating snow off your road, to let the cold freeze the ice thicker there. You also want to fill cracks, which can turn into pressure ridges.

Also be aware that a well-maintained ice road makes it easy for the hootenanny to drive out there, and start perforating the edges of your ice road road with their fishing holes and propane heated fishing shanties.

Not an A-frame but a fave of mine

But choosing your cabin is the easy part.

Getting your own private island is the crux.

Well done Harry. The health benefits of having your own personal fortress of solitude are gonna be significant.

You'll need a Scoot. Popular in our northern climes here in the Hinterlands:

"... Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards." – Edward Abbey

Hang on, does this mean Harry and friends who reside on the island are entitled to some of that sweet Canadian Health Insurance for $C47 a month without the liquor and tabacco taxes? Sign me up!
