In a previous round of sales a friend bought a Kokanee branded gondola and converted it to an outhouse at his cabin.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

Yeah had some decent turns up high yesterday too. Think the backcountry will be amazing if we could get some vis before the deluge on Sunday.

Anyone know what rules are like surrounding skis during summer ops while there's still snow on the ground? Have a friend in town May 28 and wondering if it's permitted to bring skis up the gondola, ski over to bottom of 7th for a day in the disease ridge area, then ski out on the road to mid station.
And I guess on same subject, can you access Garibaldi via glacier/showcase while the Momentum camps are running?

I am fairly certain they do not allow skis on the gondola. I hope I am wrong.
The sure way is to go up singing pass. Some skinning and a few transitions get you to disease ridge.
There's a blackomb route that's open at vail's discretion. https://spearheadbackcountry.com/202...5am%20to%209am.
If u don't give a fuck https://backcountrybc.ca/444-issues/...ccess-corridor
Or you can just drive to Duffey and not worry about access messing with your day.

Whistler 21/22
Just rent an ebike and ride up to Dark Crystal/Crystal chair and keep going up the road until you hit snow? Assume that outside of maintenance on Crystal there wouldn’t summer ops going on out that way but I could be wrong.

Summer ops is a big fat no to skis.
Decent turns up in the alpine yesterday. Slushy down low. Actually felt like Spring.

are you always allowed to skin to the top of showcase t bar to access the glacier? or into the 7th area from bottom of showcase? i'm never clear where/when you're allowed to go early and late season when parts of the resort are closed

Not lately. They have signs at the bottom of the tbar pretty much daily that prevents hiking. The only current guaranteed exit right now is up body bag. They've also had signs forbidding hiking from bottom showcase to horstman/7th ridge, but have allowed access via the Jersey side, though i've never tried that.

I believe it depends. I had a text from a patroller buddy saying that you could skin from Jersey on certain days, but never saw the signs say anything but closed. I also have been pretty much just riding Glacier though.
From what Ive heard they havent been given many resources to work with, so they just everything down the second it looks slightly sketchy. Dont have the resources to get probe lines going if something goes, so its a very low risk operation at the moment. Cornices look huge all down the ridge in Blackcomb bowl.

Should be fun! Whismas or May pow day; easy decision for me. Yesterday was a good time as well. Alpine closed, raining below Glacier Lodge, Gondi was like a windy carnival ride, just cold enough that Catskinner and Jersey zones had snow sticking to trees, and both lifts running at fixed grip speeds, and regularly stopping, due to aforementioned winds. The last part, combined with zero crowds, was reminiscent of the 80s. Enjoy it out there.

They're moving a lot of snow around up on Blackcomb in the Horstman area. Anyone know what that's about? Attempted glacier preservation?
