Apres beers on me plus happy to reciprocate if anyone makes it down to the Eastern Sierra or Shasta this spring, which should be excellent after these current storms.
Should be around next week after Weds. Touch base then

I just came back from a whistler trip with 2 days in the backcountry. It’s really breathtaking. I spent one day on the Blackcomb side and one day on the Whistler. I’d recommend the Spearhead Backcountry Atlas book for reference. It also has photos where the crevasses are on the Spearhead Glacier in the summer, which were plenty filled last weekend.

Were you guys off the back of Blackcomb on Xmas eve? Ran into some friendly out of towners back there.

I'll have a similar interest after I get settled in Whistler in the coming weeks - excited to ski with some mags. On that note, what are the best shops in Whistler for boot fitting and any ski work? Probably looking for a new downhill boot and might need a few adjustments to my AT boots.

Random question for my fellow Whistlerites

Looking for a touring ski to take around the region - Duffey, Slackcountry, Squamish, etc. I’ll only be riding lifts to access the backcountry gates with these.

I’ve been on some Ravens for years, and while I like them they don’t feel like the best tool for my style. (Driving the ski)

What are folks having the most luck with these days? Ill probably slap some ATK 12’s on whatever I buy.

I've really been liking my Foon Tyfoons - can handle a lot of variety. Having said that I've had good luck with Tecnica, Atomic, Salomon, Prior. Just try to get something relatively tough. You will hit things on the way down and you don't want some light stick that explodes.

The Husume are amazing at deep pow and open bowls or couloirs that you want to rip fast on! But I have always struggled in the trees and tighter spaces with them.

My go to ski is the Icelantic Natural 101's

Alpine Pro is a reputable place. Mitch at Canski Creek is the man.

    I've been happy with Fanatyk.

Anyone know why Glacier Chair was closed today? https://twitter.com/wbmtnops/status/1475870109444952068

Or what's up with Creekside Gondola?

Fanatyko is great, but AlpinePro is where Fanatyko sent me when they couldn't help me.

Twitter link is 100% staffing. They are getting decimated (like everyone else in town). Just go up and over from 7th.

    Tour with Skeeze and Sharon.

Almost every point of the compass has wind effect. Decent snow still below 2100m and on S, SE and SW but you should work features and elevation to get some snow preserved from windslab. No naturals or skier trigger incidents observedClick image for larger version.

Many thanks to Lee and Sharon for showing me around. I, for one, thought the snow was pretty good, particularly in comparison to what we tend to have in the Eastern Sierra 5+ days since the last real snow.

Looks nice. Went and took a gander at Cham 1 yesterday and it’s definitely not running. Cham 3’s a go - but very wind hammered.

Lots of folks skiing Corona and Husume.

Wind slab is (in my humble opinion) pretty outrageous in all aspects. Debating a slackcountry day tomorrow, but wondering if sticking to treeline / slightly above could be a good call. Lower parts of Disease? Chuting Gallery laps? Tough call.

Joffre Glacier Snow quality ridiculously good with consistent right side up characteristics from Ridgeline to Valley.

Gave some convexities ski cuts with nil reactionsClick image for larger version.
