I remember at the beginning some locals were all freaked out about ABers coming to their houses at the hill and locking down there. It didn't make a lot of sense just resource guarding in a place that really didn't have the resources. Some people were just freaking out.

Do you feel unvaccinated skiers are more of a risk this year than you were last year?

No... it's the buildings. Short of putting someone checking ID at every building entrance (of which there are a lot), requiring a vaccination (or a negative test like in the case of sunshine) seems easier. But I'd be OK if they let the unvaccinated ski if the resorts were still diligent on the buildings... but that makes gondolas tricky and the resorts understandably want to run them at full capacity this year.

But really, skiing is not a necessity like buying groceries. I'm totally in favour of making the luxuries of life difficult for those who won't do this simple act for the benefit of their community.

^ this & that some ppls livelihoods are tied to the industry. So while some thought it was unfair or my stance unreasonable- visiting your 2nd or 3rd home in my neighborhood is not a necessity when you place my abilities to earn a living at risk & if you won’t follow the guidelines or get a simple jab - hell 50% of skiers are on meth/ insulin/ coke/ antidepressants/ viagra at baseline, yet the Vax is unnatural.

Admittedly politics and practices such as single file spaced entry to the lodge w 40 dudes in the bathroom together, then riding the lift single did not help.

    Ok, thanks honest reply.

Not wanting to start a debate but I disagree it's a simple act to get the vaccine when there are thousands of adverse reactions being reported.

Thousands of adverse reactions vs 5.1 million dead and counting worldwide?

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Or maybe you're saying thousands in Canada?

22000 adverse effects out of 58 million doses administered, of which 5600 were serious (0.01%).

    https://health-infobase.canada.ca/co...accine-safety/

    Vs 29000 deaths in Canada.

    https://www.worldometers.info/corona...ountry/canada/

    Yup.... I'll take those odds.

And that's not even counting those people who recovered but who have "long covid" with brutal aftereffects that won't go away.

And what about the after effects where you get in a car accident but there are no ICU beds because someone who didn't understand statistics and didn't get a vaccine has the last bed?

    7.5 billion shots now!

We also need to assume that some portion of the adverse reactions that have been reported had nothing to do with the vaccine.

You guys are wasting your time trying to reason with this pano guy, and teletech and mutthockey too. They are guided by emotion and ideology, not facts and statistics.

I know you're right but we're told we are supposed to engage them. Sometimes I try... sometimes I don't.

Despite all evidence to the contrary it's difficult not to think that common sense and rationality has to sink in eventually.

I'm generally NOT an optimist... but I don't have these discussions to put anyone down or feel better about myself... I'm really trying to re-introduce people to rationality. It's in the best interests of everyone.

Well I guess you could make this stupid statement true, by choosing how to define "adverse reaction". Does a sore arm count? How about feeling kind of crappy for a half day? I guess then maybe there've been ***MILLIONS*** of adverse reactions!

You guys do realize his triple vaxxed mom just died of covid. I’m sure if you were in his boat you’d be a little skeptical too. What the fuck “dumbass”. seems a little harsh. Don’t be a dick.

I agree. I also understand why people get pissed off and tell people to fuck off, but at the end of the day it sure seems like stating the facts without getting too emotional is probably the best strategy.

The thing is: in that other thread, this guy has proven himself saturated with misinformation, a troll, and/or incapable of rational thought. That having been said...

No, I didn't realize that, that sucks. Vibes.

Wrong, he spent a large amount of effort in the Canadian border thread mocking those who take the virus seriously. (Before his mom died.)

Anyone dying from covid is tragic... full stop.

But no, I wouldn't be skeptical at all... that's not how statistics work. No 1 person here has a sample size of experience that means shit... that's why we have to listen to the heretic called science.

Plus he was talking about all the adverse effects, which it doesn't sound like his mother got but for some reason that's not relevant in his sample set.

Science knows the vaccine gives you way better odds than without. If anyone possess enough hubris to choose to disbelieve that based on their minute sample size of experience then they are, in fact, an idiot.

Feel terrible because I don’t feel people’s parents dying is funny or some sort of karma because they posted on a ski forum about something and then their mom died. Yeah let’s look at the big picture, 10% chance of your mom dying. Oh she died, suck it up. Fuck off

Triple vaxxed mom dying. Small sample size. Not important
