Apparently that’s only something a “big city attorney” would’ve objected to. A “small town attorney“ would be expected to understand the rural political circumstances, and adjust their actions accordingly, client welfare be damned.

Well, waddayaknow. Open records request reveals that a special prosecutor appointed to help in the case was wanting the appointment publicized, hoping that it would help her campaign for the state legislature. She won that campaign, and continued to serve as a special prosecutor, until she stepped down recently because Baldwin's lawyers asserted that serving as prosecutor and in the legislature simultaneously violated the state constitution (prosecutors initially defended her role but she stepped down before a judge was set to issue a ruling on her role).

It's ok folks, just like before when they dropped one charge (that was based on a law not in effect at the time of the shooting), they're just dropping the charges to avoid further litigious distractions and to prevent more billable hours for big-city attorneys.
