Price check on old Salsa Campeon

I've been without a roadbike for a long while and saw this pop up on my local gear swap page. Any mags have a feel for older Salsa bikes and what would be a fair price for this thing? Or if there are any red flags?

Edit: Pics not showing up, not sure why.

Really, he should pay you to take that oval chainring off his hands. Seriously though, cool bike. I don't have any special knowledge about used Salsa pricing so I'm just making up a number here, but if it was me, I wouldn't pay more than $1k, and would think I got a deal if it was $750 or so. I'm a tightwad though, so YMMV.

The guy started at $750 and has dropped down to $575 now. I'm tempted to grab it. Just wondering if I should hold out for something newer at a comparable price point.

For $575, I'd be in, assuming that bike fills a hole in your quiver. Hell, for that, you could make it a dedicated trainer bike. Something newer at a comparable price point will almost certainly be a substantially crappier bike.

$500 was going to be my suggestion to you. Frame is good quality, but 9 speed will be harder to replace going forward. Rolf wheels have up and down years. I liked mine, but others had problems.
