I don’t know if this is real, but this is why.

Anyone know how to embed this? Obviously IMG tags don’t work…

Look around, people are putting up with pretty much 0 BS these days, whether it is on the job, out in public, on a plane, where ever, people have 0 patience these days. And that is not a good thing, as so often these Karen's and Bob's are totally full of shit and over reacting based on the situation. I get it if an employer/customers are a bunch of cunts, but so much of what I see is just bad behavior that would have gotten you beat to shit or shot a 100 years ago. I don't get it and I am glad I am not in a position to have to deal with it. Should be in the people are cunts thread.

Edit to add: Then there is this which I fully support

My last HR director told me the only way to get a proper raise is quit or find a new job. Companies really don’t reward performance. Quit and take your chances. With $15 the affective minimum wage these days it’s promoting mobility. That’s a good thing.

Respectfully, not sure how you went to bad behavior from the above. If the screenshot is true the bad behavior is on the part of the employer/boss. More power to the guy who quit.

What's that guy doing packing boxes on a line at Amazon or wherever? I smell fake or setup. Although I'm sure it's a grim place to work and that similar shit happens all the time.

A buddy who's in construction and I were talking and we decided the reason nobody can find anybody to hire is that the Rapture happened and a lot of people are gone. We got left behind, fuck.

Will we notice that in the lift lines?

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I have a college-aged frequent passenger at work who has had like 10 different jobs since this spring. It’s bananas. Every time I see her I’m bringing her to a different job.

You're right, I went on an off topic rant for a portion of my comments.

I'm all about it! Wage stagnation has just shifted money from the working class to the asset owning/corporate profit owning/upper class. I proliferation of sub-living wage jobs is just socialism with weird rules. Where it's gonna get strange is where large inflexible businesses provide quasi vital services. Think petroleum tanker. drivers or grocery store employees. Locally I'm concerned that City Market (Kroger) may just decide that it isn't profitable to operate a grocery store in Granby. We already don't have a full service deli counter anymore. There are two checkers when there used to be 6 etc. Word on the street from my Exec and Super level employee friends at Winter Park is we are gonna see what operating with a skeleton staff in gonna look like. Of coarse, locally we have the double down of zero work force housing.

Things are so fucked politically and socially that I feel major change causing major pain in the only thing that may work. The only question is who will lead and will they do such in the best interest of the country as a whole or just exacerbate the current system of putting it in their pockets whilst the rest of us fight amongst ourselves as we race down the drain.

Lower level person at my office who I like and consider a friend came to me frustrated with her team and wanted to quit. I had no idea what she made so I asked. We’re hiring people at 30-40% more than what she taking home.

I told her no shame in quitting if it was affecting her mental health but I also thought she could get at least $10 more per hour with an ultimatum. She’ still working for us and it turns out money can buy at least a little bigger put up with shit meter.

There’s an employee locker room at my job, for years I was the only one who used it. Sometimes I looked around at the labeled lockers and noted: dead, dead, retired, dead, retired…etc.

I started keeping all the books I’ve read during downtime at work, and other meaningful supplies and stuff. Surfers journals, a stack of praise letters and cards from thankful clients, my fat stack of pay stubs, a couple of funny things, a couple postcards, etc. My back brace from when I did that job crippled and in severe pain for like 6 months, my old ski goggles for severe snowstorm days. Like a shrine to my 8 year sojourn in that job.

A couple years ago a bunch of dumb trash showed up in there, paper plates, canned soup, etc. I was annoyed, but left it alone because it’s not mine.

8 days ago, the little old retired miner, 2nd retired fire chief, guy who is past time building maintenance followed me in there when I showed up to work. He said he’d been ordered to throw all my stuff away. I negotiated a few days to get my valuables home, then went in there on my day off Tuesday to get all the extra stuff. I was pretty pissed, because now only 2 of us use that room, and my stuff affects nobody, and throwing it all away would have been fucked up…

Wednesday I get radio called off the road to report to the office/mgmt. I sucked it up and headed in there. They were like “this was all a huge miscommunication, we don’t mind your stuff at all, we’re so sorry, we cleaned out all the other lockers last year and all that junk was supposed to be thrown out ages ago and Jeff never did it. We told him to take care of it, it never had anything to do with your stuff or your area, we’re so sorry this happened.”

I think if I was operating with this “fuck this, everyone’s hiring I’m outta here” mentality that’s percolating everywhere, I might have just blown a gasket and quit. But literally the stuff I was packing up was a shrine to all the other times I’ve stuck it out, and the survival skills I’ve developed to do this day after day, year after year…low profile.

We’re seeing lots of stuff in this big shuffle, but I hope one of those things is that being a warhorse, being loyal and steady: it should stand in contrast. All this chaos and turnover makes a boring guy lumbering quietly into a normal shift seem pretty valuable to an organization, and that is nice.

No full service deli counter? That’s outrageous!

I used to trade for a shift every week, for years, took a loss of hours for a favorable schedule, kept my circadian rhythm, etc. When the guy I traded with quit, instead of putting me in a bind, management just quietly changed that shift to become mine…small thing, but also totally unheard-of, and when I started there there was a concrete wall where they used to say We Will Never Alter Schedule Packages To Accommodate One Employee..period. I took it thankfully, no victory lap, didn’t tell any coworkers, etc.

My wife, also a warhorse, has had 2 promotions with all the attrition. We’re thankful, really, to have our normal “go to work, do your best, be loyal” little midwestern philosophy take on some extra meaning.

Being a socialist…I think it’s important to also remember “from each according to his abilities”

I want to be of service. It’s half the philosophy. I want to be appreciated and fairly compensated for wanting to be of service, but settling into a role in the community is how that starts. I hope that part isn’t getting lost in the scramble.

Yeah but at least the costs of skiing went up again.
