I don't know anyone in the trades doing the "help wanted" thing. All we do is shuffle the employees around and get older. People are finding new and special ways to fuck shit up, do half the job and so on. Its unbelievable. I look at like easy money to just put it in second gear, make it look good and send the bill. But apparently that is too much to ask.

The part your missing not living here is that the whos who of Cocktail Party Circuit that want to run the show seem to think that the guys and gals who actually build things and may the highest wages around are the problem. Honest question, its UBI touted as the answer to "not enough good paying jobs"? So you just keep giving people money until they can afford a market rate place to live? Do you have to work for that?

What about if we actually incentivized work? How about $10 per hour? How would that work? I have a bunch of friends that would build an apartment building if the average worker could afford it.

You do need to pay more. But I feel you, most people used up too much of their income on the real estate frenzy. Now they realise renovations are not as easy as instagram suggests. Those overleveraged pricks want to keep their lifestyle and expect tradesmen to charge $20/hr. Stop scabbing and charge more

But in our silly little bubble communities with white people and ski lifts, the other industries don't follow suit. I would suggest you start with union's collective agreement as baseline and adjust to to be competitive.

I have an idea that's better than UBI. Dual currency like Cuba CUC and CUP. Remote tech workers pay me in Canadian dollars, local nurse pays me in Canadian pesos. I have to check with Castro where to go from there, but I like the concept.

every mexican has move to kremtucky and now drives an hour each way to work

there is no housing available where I live except for the upper middle class white people
housing is so fucked where I live its crazy

so now I have to charge "trip fee" for each of my employees and pay their commuting time?
lets say
1.5 hrs x $50.00 avg commute time = $75.00 x 5 days of the week = $375.00 x 9 employees = $3,375.00 per week just to get people to and from work?

you have no idea how much push back I get for the prices I charge
out of every lead I get I barely start 10% of those jobs most jobs I straight up refuse to do an estimate these days

I have one full time employee. He is paid $5 more than the national avg for his job. Plus Workman’s comp, and unemployment insurance and payroll taxes. He needs to stop fucking shit up too. I don’t know why I do it. Either I hire more people or just go solo. Probably be better off solo sometimes but it is nice to have the company I guess.

I charge more than anyone else and customers are still calling constantly. Booked 1 month out most of the year. Good problems but fkna I need a vacation.

So you do realize this entire thread is about people saying fuck off to employers in all occupations and saying my sanity is worth more than the livelihood you're offering me.

What difference does it make if the UBI is in the form of more government housing and food stamps or an additional social security check (+ say an extra $10/hr worked) for everyone? At the end of the day it's about taxing the holy fucking shit out of people with enough money and other assets to spend a million dollars a day for the next thousand fucking years. That concentration of wealth away from all of us is why we're bickering with each other. just as planned.. and also why the great resignation happened.. instead telling the 1% to fuck off.

My solution is that if you can't continue to live the life you want to live because people won't work for what you're offering anymore that's on you... Maybe you should quit too i.e. tell the people that have you kissing their ass for contracts where the profits are slimmer and slimmer or even loss leaders... tell them to fuck off while potential and current employees are telling you to fuck off.

FWIW I'm not telling anyone to fuck off here. You do you. But until the super wealthy start paying their fair share for the ridiculous wealth the government has allowed them to amass (including said government officials) this shit's gonna keep getting worse.
