We’re like Mexico insomuch as the powers in control of this country do better when the country is in chaos and and regular people are struggling. The country isn’t being managed for the country, it’s constantly being leveraged and pillaged by a criminal oligarchy. Our government function has almost no connection to bettering living conditions for average citizens, it’s almost entirely expressions of various forms of corruption.
Canada doesn’t seem to operate like that.

10-31-2021, 07:16 AM #754Foggy, you don't know me, I am just another schmuck on the internet in your world
A nearing retired age guy who lives in Coronado. Owes rental property. Has young adult children who he is/has/want's to help get into a very expensive property market. Supports a California Tax Prop 13 that promotes intergenerational wealth transfer.
Too me, stereotypically, this is the profile of an upper middle to upper class existence that in "keep your greasy paws of my money mode". I get it, but as was better explained by others upthread, when you aggregate that attitude you get what we have right now.
My opinion is that is all us fortunate ones could change our mindset a bit to say that this thing called society is a team sport we might be able to turn this bus around. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this is how you feel?
But yeah...that's why I said what I said. I hope you have a nice relaxing Sunday.

All of your comments are true, but not fully expanded on, so what you're saying paints a picture in black & white, where as my believes paint a much more colorful picture.
I obviously share to much on here without the benefit of full disclosure. I will work on sharing less about myself. Have a great day too.
O and I call everyone a cunt. Kind of a Jim Jefferies thing, so don't let that make you feel special.

Yeah, in the context of what's being discussed in this thread, and what's going on for everyone working for something less than the median wage, absolutely. If you look at the Gini index for each, Canada clearly has the least disparity, with the US and Mexico obviously being higher, but the devil in the details is that Mexico is trending better, and we're trending worse.

My cousin married an Australian guy. He had moved to California to pursue the American Dream™ but wasn't asleep enough to believe it. Once they had kids, they realized raising them upsidedown was clearly the better option, so they moved to (near) Melbourne. Not a single family member thought that was a bad idea.

Can't get lazy ass adults to work, so let's make it easier for the kiddies to work longer! Not that kids these days want to work.

I may have already mentioned this somewhere earlier, but our HR dept. indicated we had the most applicants during the month of October, and the most openings filled in the past 12 months. All that stimulus money is running out. Rent/mortgage forbearance is or has ended. Time to get off the couch and earn your keep America. That includes all you 14 year olds out there. XXXer as an immigrant to this country, I will tell you without hesitation that the USA is great. It is the damn politicians and about 40% of the people that are fucking it up. I could go on and on about all the great things this country has to offer, but policy and the Freedom to be a Moran, is what really bums me out.

We do seem to celebrate and reward assholes in the US of A.

one of my favorite examples of the difference was some random TGR type said " yeah I think universal HC would be great, but I don't want my dollars to pay for some BBQ eating fat fuck from the south so everybody but them "
buddy knew how to use the word in a sentance, could probably tell you what the word means but as pertaining to HC it was a whoosh moment
uh dude universal mean everybody like including the BBQ eater
there are some things I don't really get and so I ask
and some things I ask myself why do they care about that ?Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

Or that fat BBQ eating not so low income person in the middle of the hot as hell too hot to do much outside swamp saying "Ya I could really get behind universal healthcare but I don't want my tax dollars going to pay for ACL surgery or some other injury some fool took taking unnecessary risks skiing or motocross riding or mountain biking or road biking etc.... "
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

I like this. But i'll add the following; Canada, politically, socially, economically, educationally etc. is just the US but a few decades behind. I've heard my father throw that out for the last 35 years and the pandemic especially has led to believe he was right. Our 'Nelson of the North' up here has sadly shown it's true colours. Some f*cked up, weird shit happening in Smithers right now. Very frightening and everyone really needs to knock Canada off it's pedestal.
