    The Great Resignation ‘21

I have a feeling the great resignation, like Omicron, is just starting to hit its stride now after the holidays…

My pharmacist buddy is so fed up with staffing issues and ownerships unwillingness to counter / attract talent and techs that he started looking for a new job.

I just gave three people 15, 20 and 23% raises and have another several that will get double digits. I’m hopeful the competition will cheap out and I can pluck a few good people.

I hear you. For the first time since the pandemic blew up our world, I've considered my options outside of my current company, up and including, a sabbatical. The continued staffing shortages, pressure on those still in-role, and lack of incoming talent has only seemed to magnify an already stressed workforce. I know I'm feeling it.

In my corner of the dental-lawyer-tech world, my employer - one regularly at the top of the Best Places to Work list - still sees itself as a destination employer, despite key people leaving and front line workers leaving in droves for greener ($$$) pastures. Funny thing is, they realize it's an issue, they've stated it publicly, and yet, nothing has been done about it. No retention bonuses, no cost of living raises - nothing.

With this La Nina year seemingly a fire hose aimed at the west, it's hard not to pull a Jerry Maguire, peace out in spectacular fashion, and spend the remainder of the winter skiing and chasing storms.

What better way to come back to the new year than having your employer go in and manually change your entered sick time (properly used for several medical appointments) to vacation time without ever getting in contact with me. Bold fucking move right there guy, some might say checkmate…

I would think that your state labor board would be interested in these shenanigans...

Supposedly it's illegal for them to stop you at the door. They can ask, but you can just wave your receipt at them and keep on walking.

The receipt is an email coming to your phone. Even at WallyWorld they stop you and look item by item at your receipt.

I have never been stopped at a Walmart or other store to have my receipt examined*. What kind of sketchy vibe are you putting off?

*Except that one time I was patted down by a police officer at a gas station because the gas station manager thought I stole a sucker.
    focus.

They stop lots of people here.. Usually it's when there is something in the cart too big for a Walmart bag.. like dog food.

My company signed three new systems engineers before Christmas that were supposed to start this week. We lost out on one of those engineers since he apparently got an even better offer in the week we were off between Christmas and the New Year.

On another note- 9 months ago my GF accepted a management consulting job offer with a 60% pay increase and perma -remote status in response to her previous employer trying to force everyone back to the office.

Today she received yet another perma remote job offer, this time for another 25% on top off her current pay. Add em together and that's a 100% pay increase in 9 months.

Seems like money is falling from the sky in certain industries.

Your boss or HR did it? Either way that sounds worth an email at minimum. If you really are leaving maybe worth reporting.

Median Onlyfans income is only $145 per month. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28105011

That industry got flooded and now there is a massive oversupply of "talent".

Still a 100% increase if she only made $72.50 nine months ago. Hey, I could have just gone with the TRG standard of "we need to see pics of her boobs".

    Lol.

I probably should have tied it back to your mom/sister/wife but I'm feeling pretty slow.

Holy crap. Talk about a straight line family tree. Most certainly don't have kids if mom = sister = wife.

Eh, there's no bounding based on activity. On any platform with low entry coat, there will always be an oversupply at the floor of effort. I'd be interested in a breakout of the same data with minimum of 1 post/month and 1 post/week. Also, as it's all extrapolated from scrapes there's a big question mark on the distribution.

I didn’t realize until recently that many Onlyfans accounts don’t even show nudity, and even more only show boobs or nudity and not full on porn. I’ve never been on the site and assumed they were basically all porn. The podcast I was listening to said if you are breaking in you really need to find a niche / fetish or get lucky and get some good promotion.

Apparently there was an Army wife who had an account and some official Army Twitter account commented on her accidentally (was logged into work account not personal). She then blew up to making 7 figures almost overnight.

I would have also assumed it was all porn.

Seriously, who is paying $10 a month for pictures of chicks in bikinis?

Some folks are apparently pretty hard up since Sears&Roebucks stopped sending out their awesome underwear catalogs.

The problem is you fundamentally misunderstand the market. It has nothing to do with pics, and everything to do with the perception of individualized, "girl friend experience" interactions. When people subscribe or pay for OF content, they are looking to fill a gap of loneliness that traditional porn doesn't come close to touching - for the guy with a foot fetish, he finds a model that has beautiful feet, accepts him for the weirdo that he is, and treats him like a person. The model might DM a fan and say "babe I sure wish that I could get those new Louboutin heels, don't you think my feet would look stunning in them"? and naturally, he wants to feel like the girl's boyfriend and have the experience of spoiling her and getting her what she wants.

Of course OF consumers know where to find free porn - that's not the point at all. What OF gives them is the experience of waking up to a picture message in their DMs from the girl of their fantasies who says something like "Wish you were here to make me coffee this morning" - disregard the fact that she spammed that same message and the same picture to 400 of her premium subscribers. He feels a personal connection, validation for whatever weird ass fetish he has, and a sense of being desired.

Anyway, I'm not trying to defend the practice, and it's probably weirder than any of you realize, but it certainly is not just paying for bikini pictures.
