Yeah, $49 has been my cut-off this season (price of a Buddy Ticket @ Rose; price of a closing day ticket @ DSR)...however, these days it's gotten to the point where anything under $100 is a "bargain."

    For you Sierra@Tahoe fans

Fire closure was lifted at the beginning of April, got out there 4 days and covered most of the mountain except the backside.

This was a good 420 day

^^^ Thanks for doing that! Gives me a great feel for what we will find next ski season. I imagine many/most of the standing dead trees will be felled but I don't know how they decide that. Lower Main to almost all of West Bowl will be wide open if so.

From what I understand every dead tree will be cut, which includes every tree in Westbowl, I’ll post a video from that zone later. Preachers trees are toast and grandma’s. Did not ski huckleberry but it looks good, exit is probably cooked

Here is another from the green zone from April 23rd, cover shot Is the web cam catching me peeing, ha!

Damn, I was holding out hope that it wasn't so bad out there. S@T is going to be a whole different mountain next season, and probably not in a good way. Those trees were magic on a storm day; no wind, no people, and free refills.

BTW/FWIW, I rallied this past Sunday and made the trek to KW for Closing Day.
Met up with Vets, Ottime, and Bullhorn and bounced around the mountain til 2:30ish when my legs began to whine "how much longer?"
Conditions were all over the map.
"The Wall" never softened up. We persevered the boilerplate bumps multiple times to get over to the cream-of-wheat soft stuff residing in "Eagle Bowl."
    Lapped 6 a lot, too.
Found heavy corn, some crusty taters, but also Cap'n Crunch off of "Sentinel."
Every groomer we hit was damn bueno, though.
    Good day.

Tried to ski crescent moon couloir today. It never warmed up and lots of tracks, raised over the snow, which i think happens when it's very windy. We ended up skiing a steep face lookers left, good snow.

Interesting that to the left of the face, maybe 10 degrees further west aspect, they snow was firm enough that a jump turn would end up in a5-6 foot slide. Fun though.

A few feet to the right, the snow was really soft.

And since my entire winter was spent in the French pyrenees, never went above 8,000 ft, i really felt the elevation today.

Just seeing the first flakes, 5 minutes before the NWS said it would yesterday. Pretty impressive forecasting.

Currently snowing in Reno at the airport. Not sticking to anything. Traffic getting home looks completely jacked.

Jack knifed truck apparently. Snowing hard on and off here since midday but stopped at the moment, A little slush on the road, a few inches on the deck.
A May storm is traditional--canceled a Tour of California leg one year and rerouted a women's tour leg another. Watched an SUP race at Donner Lake in a snow storm once. What's unusual with this one is the lows in the high teens the next couple of nights.

Thank you Gimpy! That was beautiful.

Loving how cold it is currently. Feels like winter down on the coast. Well, except for that spring wind making it feel even colder.

Trapped in the Sierra Nevadas during the bitter winter of 1846, nearly 90 members of the Donner and Reed families longed for California's "Promised Land." But an untried shortcut became a death warrant for half of them victims of madness, death, and cannibalism. The program re-creates the Donner Party's journey from family journals, newspaper accounts, and interviews with historians and descendants.

Nice to know we can still watch this show after our VCR breaks. First time we played this on xmas it started dumping, 80 closed for 5 days, and we were stuck in the house with my MIL and BIL. Ski areas were all closed as well. So be careful when and where you watch it.
