Last Sunday (1/23) runs off Headwall were firm, but manageable and still good skiing. Have conditions gotten significantly more firm/icy since? I'll be there tomorrow and hoping to venture off the groomers without sliding down the mountain.

22 Blue - Looking ahead to the New (aka Fuck Summer (aka Tahoe Thread))
I got about ten people to specifically mention limiting annual STR nights on that Truckee survey so hopefully they at least consider it. I’m skeptical.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Got some nice corn and pseudo corn action today at the new "Alpine Lodge" part of the mountain now represented with the Philadelphia Eagles logo in Denver Broncos colors. It was nice to see the combination of very little east wind and 100% of the lifts open. The crowds were significantly smaller than last Friday, which was an east wind clusterfuck. Some people may be losing interest in ski season. Maybe I won't have to leave Truckee before the sun comes up this weekend...

Sounds like Placer County voted to cap the number of STR's but no restrictions on number of rental days per year and other restrictions. My guess is that Truckee will follow suit, since they've been following Placer's lead all along. It's a shame. The absentee landlords win out over the ever shrinking community.

Can it snow already so we can start talking about the bad traffic and crowds? Yeah, it sucks big time when investors start buying properties that aren’t part of the community and then start lobbying local governments to maximize their return on investments.
I hate to say it Old Goat but you should run for local office and advocate for the community. Maybe you can lobby Ullr also to make it snow!

Hey. Traffic was still bad today. It is a Saturday after all. Buddy was trying to get from Truckee to incline at 930... Dumas.

It’s kind of amazing that the article makes no mention of cabrio boots.

KW chair 10 "Seam of Smoothness" was fun as hell today. The wind has pounded the rain crust out of the snowpack. Waterfall zone, Hells Zone, and a random patch of soft stuff at the top of Eagle Bowl we're all pleasant winter surprises.

Snowiest December on record to driest January on record. What was the term? Whiplash?

Palisades Tahoe skied just as well as two weeks ago...kinda crazy. Groomers were actually better IMHO. Not sure why they close the upper steeps of Red Dog & Resort Chair when its some of the most sun-protected, still wintery zones on the mountain. I did a few laps in the steeps of Red Dog from the legal entrance and was pleasantly surprised how the snow skied the same as 2-3 weeks ago. Still enough out there to stay entertained.
As for the death on Chute 75, rumor is that the guy may have had a heart attack. Of course, this is all chairlift hearsay but apparently he's had heart surgery in the past and was scheduled for another soon. That's not to say its not slide for life in spots (because it sure is) but just to clarify with what I had heard.
