Justice Stoke: Lesh ^^^ fined $10,000 and ordered to perform 160 hours of community service: https://www.aspentimes.com/news/lesh...ublic-service/
Ikon anti-stoke: Friday evening, my Truckee Ikonized ski pal told me to meet 8:15 a.m. at Far East. Laughed and kept sipping single malt from some remote island in the N. Atlantic knowing my boys would never get up that early. Sat. a.m., left Donner Summit around 9:15. Should have known it was trouble when I-80 was backed up half-way up the pass. After two + hours of crawling towards the 7-eleven at 89/O. Valley, gave up and went to Sugar Bowl. SB parking lot was packed, but only one smallish lift-line encountered when Lincoln stopped for a bit. Skiing was fun.
January frozen crust stoke: Sunday, bailed on the Ikon and SB, and went to a not so secret spot further west on I-80 that about 2200 vt. ft. above the highway has lots of antennas and microwave towers. Would have been appropriate to have my crampons and whippet, as the aspects I skinned, booted and skied never really softened up [the picture is from another time]. But, since I'm totally objective about skiing, I thought it was great.

Here's some video from the past weekend. Somehow the damn hypersmooth function was set to extreme without my knowledge and cropped the footage to make most unwatchable. I will try and do better next time, I promise.

CC area trails report, to the extent I know.
Clear Creek is ridable to the trees as you'd expect, but watch out for lots of dog shit and kooks on mopeds. Indian Hills is really wet but surprisingly still mostly ok. Prison Hill is ridable except for a couple hundred feet of snow on the north facing sections of the upper loop. Ash lower stuff is good, with the usual snow on Creek trail and of course A2K is snowed in. Pine Nuts has sections of snow but and mud but would still be worth it. Centennial is good to go.ride bikes, climb, ski, travel, cook, work to fund former, repeat.

Sure, I rode Ash to the lone tree and it was muddy beyond that so went hard right from there toward secret trail and made it a little ways and got stopped by snow. Went back down and rode up VT to the hospital trail and hooked that piece and back down. So, got about 1.5 hours and 99% ride able. Anyway worth going........

Cornblocked by cloud over rose area.
The glide cracks are bonkers. Somebuddy's going to fall in.
I was 2 hours early for the top but not the bottom. It went abruptly from scrape to deep mashers with frozen tracks around 8600.
Current pattern is decidedly good for sunsets.

That's a ridiculous glide crack, got any pictures for context of it?
Nice sunset.

Got cloudy at Kirkwood in the afternoon and not that much softening occurred. Pretty empty out there, maybe 1 person on every 10-15 chairs on Chair 10. A few good patches of wind blown snow with mostly terrible snow in between. Thunder Saddle had the best snow. Skied California Chute and it was highly variable, but a few decent turns in there.
