It would have been cool if the spring skiing capital was actually open today. Got more snow than I expected.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Mine is the leg in the cast in the opening shot.

I skied SB before the Judah side existed, when there was still a chair lift next to the gondola. And didn't there use to be a short beginner lift--chair I think next to the old Crows Nest lift that was replaced by Crows Peak chair.

Collecting Dick Buek stories is an exercise in the suppression of disbelief, anyway,” wrote John Jerome and Jim Scott in a January 1970 profile of Buek in Skiing magazine. “How could he have done all that? What can you believe in all those crazy stories? Schussing (Sun Valley mogul run) Exhibition the first time he saw it. Winning a ski jump the first time—maybe the only time—he ever went down an in-run. Skydiving with a parachute he found in a scrap heap. Diving off the cliffs at Acapulco to win a bet for gas money home. Piloting a light plane on a slalom course around the lift towers at Squaw Valley, beneath the cables. And so on. The stories are legend.

You know how you're not supposed to follow a track unless you know where it's going?

Today on Carson pass, spaced out following z skin track and ended up a bit east of elephant back, when i wanted to go to round top.

Anyway, made it to round top and on the apron i saw two boarders and one skier coming down from the couloir. How is it? Icy.

Ok, i can deal with some ice, so i started to boot up crescent moon couloir.
After a while I realized that they came down one of the side couloirs, and the main one was untracked.

    Scored!

I made it to about 30 ft from the top, but it got pretty steep and with 2 ft of powder i just couldn't make it any higher.
Skiing was excellent, visibility not so much.

Yeah, got lucky. Went last Tuesday to see horrible conditions in the couloir.

Nice to be back in Tahoe.

I rode the chair back to the gondola lot once when the gondola broke down - there was no snow on the offramp so you needed to carry your skis and jump off onto the carpet. I now have one of the chairs in front of my house.

Beginner lift was Meadow unless you’re thinking of something older. First skied at SB in 94 when the old Silver Belt lift was still there.

Pic from today,it was good (better snow than the April storms):

Yeah, lucky. And lucky for me, since crescent is my favorite line in Tahoe, and i have a success rate of less than 1 in 4.

I saw your vehicle at the pass yesterday Powdork, figured you where getting the goods.

Put a spotting scope on crescent today on my way back from the wood, crescent got hit from the top today, tracks in both the middle and main coolies. really good 4 laps before 11 snow was starting to turn as I headed out

Yeah we could see the one big turn on the hanging face and the straightlines out. Someone was up eeeearly. today was redonk. How were the crowds at the wood today? Driving out at 7:30 we were basically in a backcountry shame train. Saw some folks skinning away from their truck at the pass at 12:30 when we were done and I was a bit scared for them.

Was definitely party time out there, saw lots of folks I knew and didn’t even with everyone out there there was plenty of space especially if you went off the trade routes just a little.

Some video from yesterday and today, finally remembered to bring the GoPro today but left the helmet in the car, wasn’t going back. After a couple laps I remembered you saying last time you did that you put it in your mouth so I gave it a go, queue heavy breathing

    Crowded here, too.
Last week Sunrise Bowl in T/D was a ghost town (I was the only one out there Tues, Wed, Thurs).
    Today, there was no parking.
Frickin hate fair weather powder whores, um, I mean hounds...

I sat the past few days out due to wind, snow, and low viz.
Today i bailed because of lack of parking and a slope that looked like a seasoned junkie's arm.
Ended up waxing 4 pairs of skis instead.
Hoping for less-to-no crowds tomorrow, though based on the temps, thinking gloppish cement...

Also guessing that PTOV is gonna be a scheisse show on Friday and into the weekend...

And yo, thanks for the stoke all you South Shore blokes.
    Good on ya!

funny thing. I left my helmet in the car today and was only about 100 yards out but the sun was ticking and i said there's no reason to have it since I forgot the gopro at home. At the end of the 4 hour tour I realized the gopro was in my pants pocket the whole time.
