I can’t believe Timber Creek is still a tent. What’s it been, like 17 years?

The temporary lodge might soon be older than the permanent lodge it replaced

Still a week out (sort of on the edge of reliable forecasting), but this looks tentatively promising:

To be clear all Kirkwood needs to open are a bunch of hotels, restaurants and casinos at its base.

Vail has put out a "Shopping" sign. I am unclear if they mean you can get frozen taquitos in the general store or a new set of skis. Not a whole bunch of shopping options in the valley. What they need is more shopping. And bring back the ice rink!

If it makes anyone feel better here’s Sun Valley (day before yesterday). Impressive snowmaking but damn.

    Fingers crossed.

If I had to guess I’d say Tuesday seems realistic. Probably GC and Shirley and then depending on the storm they’ll open what they can later in the week. Probably no lifts but maybe mountain run if it’s cold enough.

I should also mention hiking up under chamois we turned around near where the pic was taken as the snowpack pretty much echoed what was found at frog lake cliffs on the 6th but with about 2-3' of base with rotten snow from 3-5" down under a thin ice layer and lots of patches of weak snow at the bottom once away from trees

It's hard to think of another crime that can be easily committed by one person that can destroy as many lives as starting a wildfire.

On a more positive note, Rose opening Friday, according to the Sierra Sun. I haven't checked out the details.

Hum. Intentional arson or some kind of careless camping thing

I know another guy was arrested for trying to start fires off 50. While the fire was going

Not a lot of info at this point. Impression I got is doing something illegal that resulted in the fire rather than intentional. But if there's fire restrictions that could include careless camping I would assume.
