I guess we will find out eventually.

It’s cold and gloomy outside. Must be doing something up on the mountain

I’m still waiting for February ski season

I think the traverse into palisades and the run outs will be a bit boney in the short term.

Clearly Alpine Base, as Olympic Base has been open with two runs all week.

They have Freerider starting this weekend. They have to turn at least chair 5 or they lose a bunch of money.

5 will be easy. if they get the upper end of the 6-12" forecast tonight/tomorrow combined with excellent snowmaking conditions they could open the whole frontside. Only the bottom 200' is hurting really and all the lift queues have been blown to about 2' deep.

Like Court said, 5 will spin. We skied top to bottom after Thanksgiving and Race Course had a ton of manmade snow on it. They could have opened back then if they really wanted to, but it would have been just that one run and would have probably got scrapped clean by Sunday. My buddy skied Lowe Montes and they said it was fun and plenty of snow until the last, wait for it, 200'

Guessing that will mean no uphill access there tomorrow. Lots of equipment moving around and potential snow safety work.

I know everybody is jonesing for snow (including myself), but hot damn, your riding is good right now. Visited the area earlier this week.

    1) somebody buy your trail builders a beer, good shit!
    2) dirt can’t really get much better than that

    The riding exceeded expectations

I do like how KW reports 6" of new on top of grass and a 22" base. Guessing they are measuring that "base" a bit further uphill from the Base.

I'm a skier first and foremost but bummed I didn't get to bike any of the hero dirt this past month. Damn wedding and work stuff. It's great when it's not moon dust eh.

or right at the base. in the lift corrals. at 7 yesterday you could walk up and measure the sidewall of the lift lines they had shaped going straight from rocks to roughly 22"

On that note, everybody buy Frorider beers the next time you see him! He probably wouldn't claim it, but he's been the primary mover with TAMBA to get Armstrong Connector back open. It is entirely clear and rideable at present (plus 6" of snow on top) thanks to him and TAMBA. I was able to go down last Saturday and work with Fro to help fully open the Connector. Funny enough, I didn't realize he was a maggot until just before...gotta love this community!

It was sobering seeing the damage Caldor did, but awesome TAMBA has jumped all over those trails to get them re-opened. We shall see what our winter does, but there will be a lot more downed trees to remove come spring. Some pics:

TAMBA rocks. We were very impressed with Sidewinder a few weeks ago. Thanks Fro, MM, TBC and all the others who opened those trails back up. And even bigger props for the new snow.

Here’s what Connector looked like yesterday after all the work was completed, running faster than ever (even faster with this speeded up video )

Happy we had the time to repair so much trail before winter set in but ready to break out the planks, let the season begin!

From Kirkwood: “Yes, the first day for skiing and riding will be Saturday, December 11th. If anyone purchased tickets for the 10th our ticket office will be able to refund or change days.”

Those cams sure looks snowy this moring!

I thought my little guy had Mighty Mite assessments on Saturday but apparently not since he did team last year...albeit as much as possible. So I guess I'll get that annual family photobook done instead. Palisades Tahoe USA Int'l even cancelled all our other ski team stuff as well given the lack of terrain and not much time to make snow and prepare slopes.

Thanks for coming out and working connector meter-man, I missed that last day on connector as I over did it the day before working on toads and yea Frorider is the man!

With the limited terrain offerings this weekend with Kirkwood and heavenly, guess I’ll wait for the next round of snow to fall before getting a lift assist, surely it will be a bit crazy out there, I don’t know guess it will be crazy all season with the big jump in pass sales and S@T out of the equation this season.
