Similar vein, anyone need some old tele skis? Free to a good home. I cannibalized the bindings from them and the skis are not the right size for me anyway. Look to be high 170s low 180s in length but not marked. Inserts for Tele bindings I think the voile pattern. Good condition edges and bases.

Those skis were the shit back in the day. Uber-wide 88mm underfoot powder skis.

Ok, here’s my contribution. They’re worthless for skiing but the top sheets are so pretty I was saving them for something. Donate whatever to SAC and pick up in SLT. Willing to ship at your cost if you donate $50 or more.

Good stuff, folx! Way to clear out old stuff and benefit local institutions at the same time! PFDs always intimidated me. I wanted the fatness but also thought they were just for tele. Plus the pretty topsheets.

Looks like Mashed Potatoes was first. Thanks to those that offered to donate too. Don't let not getting this pack stop you either; maybe the karma will come back around.

So... what's the over/under on snowfall at the snow lab? Who's taking 1"?

    Karhu phased out by K2.
Karhu and Line shared skis, so really just absorbed into the Line series of skis.

That orange Jak was a rebadged mothership right? Like a 97/98 waist?

I remember them being the hack for a cheap mothership. From telemark Pyrenees.

Some good news. Since I have to move out in 8 days I have had a keen eye on the rental market. There is fairly decent availability now on the south shore and I am seeing ads linger with price drops on craigslist. We may be turning that corner.

I bought my mine in Oregon last year so I didn’t get the survey link.
Question 5 is only funny to us here and obviously we don't represent the majority of the snopark crowd. But the survey had 30 questions that I answered honestly with my only minor dings regarding cleanliness. I know some of the lots get flooded with touron assholes which heavily contributes to their sorry state, but in general I love the system and gave them high marks.

22 Blue - Looking ahead to the New (aka Fuck Summer (aka Tahoe Thread))

i thought your double parking comment was funny as fuck. i dinged them for cleanliness but explained at the end it was mostly pandemic related since they kept the restrooms closed until june last year so things got messy at times. mostly assholes thinking they could leave bags of shit (actual shit) outside since the restrooms were closed. also the restrooms at carson pass need work. It's one of the most beautiful hikes in the sierra, and there's a well built attractive information hut there but they have standard pit toilets that are supposed to remain open all winter. They try hard but it's a super harsh climate and there is almost zero overhang to keep the snow out. Big winters they often become impossible to open, and then they don't get cleaned. Plus the bathroom is ugly as fuck. Forget about the forest closed sign and look at the aged rotting frame it's stapled to. The paper plate notice on the door which is probably nicer than the official 'don't dump your waste here' notices taped everywhere. And always leave old tape behind

I forgot to complain about the obnoxious amount of flagging tape marking the obnoxiously over marked xc ski route at Carson Pass

    fucking ridiculous

I must have pulled miles of flagging tape off of trees out there last season

I did mention it to the CP Station FB folks but they didn’t seem to know who put it all up

fuck that shit - the tree diamonds are more than enough -

Based simply on personal experience, the Jaks had absolutely nothing in common with Motherships. My Jaks weren't even as burly as my Work Stinx/Gerry Launchers.

Probably a different generation of both. I think Jaks got softer over time, Mo'ships got burlier. This is a long time ago but I think there might actually have been a season where the jax was mothership+metal. But that mothership was not the charge-y one.

Areas within the fire perimeter to remain closed until August of 22. Apparently this will also apply to areas that 'lead to' areas within the fire perimeter as well. New map coming soon.

The excessive flagging on the north side of cp was put there by the volunteer ski patrol that patrols that zone. I ran into a guy one day last year that was putting it up and he asked our opinion on it so we were happy to share and he agreed that it was excessive so he was taking some down. That said, that area is confusing and it’s really easy to drop too low so I’d bet they are constantly dealing with people who are blowing it and getting lost. Hell I’ve been touring in that zone for 20 years and I still am constantly second guessing myself on that exit so i get it why they felt the need to install that flagging.

Looks good sruffian…….though I’d bet these 10k+ snow levels have decimated what snow was there
