Did you guys skin back up and hit Sally Alley too? We saw some folks coming down from Chair 4 at about 2 PM. Extreme Traverse on the Saddle was actually fun, as was this one strip of windbuff under All the Way on the Wall. And Buckboard at 60 mph....always.

Note that an annual limit on stays was not in the reccomended actions, but the comment period is still open so you can try to prevent full-time hotels from running in residential neighborhoods.
From Town of Truckee:
COMMUNITY SURVEY OUT NOW!
The Town of Truckee is considering updates to our community's Short-Term Rental (STR) Ordinance, and we want to hear from you! The updates that are being considered include the following three recommendations to the ordinance:
A cap on the number of STR registration certificates issued
The creation of a waiting period after a property sells before they can be eligible as an STR
The phasing out of STRs in multi-family housing units
The Town of Truckee formed a stakeholder advisory committee to study STR management options and provide recommendations. The committee is made up of a broad range of stakeholders and met over a three month period to consider this complex issue. It was hoped that proactively managing the STR registration program would create a tool to help maintain the supply of housing that is affordable to the regional workforce. They considered data from the makeup and use of the current STR inventory in Truckee, tools used in similar destination communities, as well as findings from a literature review that looked at several academic studies on these potential tools and their impacts on the housing market. It is from this process that the three recommendations above were made.
These are recommendations that are currently being considered, not yet adopted. We are seeking public input and community involvement in this important decision. The survey will be available from January 14, 2022 until January 24, 2022. The information received will then be presented to the Truckee Town Council at the February 8, 2022 Truckee Town Council meeting.
The survey is available below:

Yeah, I'm kinda confused why they might recommend phasing out STRs in multi family units but not houses in residential neighborhoods. Also curious who the "stakeholders" are that provided input 🤔. If they want to actually do something about the problem, quit pussyfooting around and do something. Ban it outright aside from primary residences.

It sounds like they hope limiting the overall number of STRs will reduce complaints and friction enough that they don't have to impose a stay limit. Another obvious solution is to limit STRs to certain areas like SLT did. But it's always like this with business and real estate vs people trying to live somewhere. We need more people to demand annual limits and no-STR zones. Comments needed!

You'll likely just end up with a bunch of empty houses and really expensive hotel rooms (and maybe that's okay?). I don't think there's anything wrong with second homeowners renting it out here or there (say, sub 30 nights per year), but the full time hotel-in-a-neighborhood thing needs to stop for sure and then evaluate from there.

For sure there will be lots of empty homes, there already is. But the full time hoteliers will have no reason to keep those homes, and the people that were only able to justify the expense of a house they use a few times a year by renting it out the rest of the time would be forced to sell, too. More homes on the market, whatever the number, is a win in my book. I don't see the point in proclaiming something is a problem, and then allowing that problem to continue, just in smaller numbers, and mostly benefitting people that don't live here.

I completely agree with needing a limit on the number of nights being critical. I stated that on the survey. I also wanted to know that since my neighbor can run a hotel in a residential neighborhood, how come I can't turn my house into a drive thru restaurant? "Its mah proppurty an' I'll do whatti want"
