    He still wins!

Homewood looked good on the web cam this morning and they were reporting an inch at that time. They were rounding up.

Today, at 1638 hours, another large boulder came down onto US-50, same location. No injuries. While on scene, ANOTHER huge boulder came down without incident. Be vigilant when traveling through the burn areas. Very unstable hillsides.

Looks like we got the under on north lake. Come check out the Kings Beach snow fest parade at noon!

Left South Lake for KW at 8am today and we’re still on the road. I knew it would be busy, but this is truly wild.

You need to be at Kirkwood at 8am on a day like this. Can't tell you how many cars I saw zipping around SC yesterday with their skis loaded on top getting gas and groceries. It was kind of weird. Figured Tahoe would be pretty full today. 4" is the new powder day.

I would have been there myself if I was not hosting an enchilada party on the deck this evening.

I hope you made it. We normally avoid Saturday's, but we had a mostly marvelous time at HV today.
Bloody cold, so about time for a warming beverage.
Stayed on NV side, out of the way. Lots of chances, off trail, to make new tracks in the fresh snow. The hard underneath was not much of a buzzkill at all

22 Blue - Looking ahead to the New (aka Fuck Summer (aka Tahoe Thread))

Pretty quiet in here for a respectable pow day. Saturdays inbounds do suck tho.

We were told 9" and it skied like 4-6. Some areas were drifted and protected from shifting wind and skied quite nicely. As noted above, and obvious to all, avoiding steeps was key. Good cold finish to it as well. I only needed six laps of that and made it to the parade with minutes to spare.

the skiing was a little quiet. views were awesome. It was nice to roll up at 10:30 on a Powsaturday and only have to walk 40' to the snow and hop on a lift with no line.

But the cherry on top was the short south shore tour with the pups and a beer and a bowl with a well timed appearance by giver of warmth and life (fucking destroyer of snow )
This is all the ups he has at the top of a small hill theses days. Thankful to see it though

They come with many many Jong's in tow. Parked to the road. Probably some funny stories from the flatlands about their epic journey to the closed lot. Wondering how long the drive up really took today from the Plains if you made it to the Wood and we're parked at say 11 or 10am?

Really wild seeing zero cornices on the ridge west of incline lake peak's summit. So many north wind events this year. Snow tails are in weird places and of course we also had a dearth of wind events from the southwest (I.e. snowstorms). Anybuddy else seen a pattern like this take hold for a season?

Was surprised at how few people where out there at the most popular intermediate friendly west shore location yesterday. Plenty of parking spaces available at 9:30 and the tracks there were already out there were pretty easy to avoid.

Yeah it was hard for me to drive past all the empty spots at 9:45 but I had the old dog in the car with me. That also seemed to be the sweet spot for the storm

Soft turns this morning above 7500', followed by hilarious mush-over-ice below that while dodging ascending snowshoers.

The snowshoers are really getting after it this year!

Lottsa fluff-on-scruff at The Star over the weekend, but yesterday I found an untouched stash of sparkling wine pow and lapped it a few times, which made me smile.

What's this? KW staying open until May 1? Well, that'd be cool.

That's pretty optimistic. At this point I'm not sure even Mammoth has enough of a snowpack to make mid May.

Fantastic higher elevation skiing in north lake this weekend. Blower and nothing scratchy underneath above 8k on saturday, cold temps saturday night dried out the snowpack and the wind refilled the right north aspects.

A couple laps at alpine sat afternoon were atrocious by comparison.
