Packed the bikes and some touring set ups. Taking the godson out for his first tour; maybe his last depending on conditions. Any beta on when the east faces have been softening is welcome.

Likely gonna bike Sidwwinder on Friday with my son. He is stoked to get out and ride which is pretty awesome. Any other good moderate rides that are snow free and not too far from Kirkwood?

I was leaning toward just bikes, but gimpy got me thinking it would be really nice to get out on the snow even if we do not get good turns. It would be a shame to get up there and be bummed I did not bring gear.

And speaking of gear, anyone have used skins cut for 140cm skis lying around?

    Unless you like snow.
Looks like there's lots of opportunities coming to blow snow through the nights, at least. Half a loaf, better'n none style.

I don’t know about that. Seems like with highs near 60 each day and lows not too far below freezing, there aren’t going to be many hours each night where they can actually blow snow?

22 Blue - Looking ahead to the New (aka Fuck Summer (aka Tahoe Thread))

Looks like maybe something coming together in 10 or so days out. At least at higher elevations. At this point I’m just hoping to be able to take my kids skiing before Christmas.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Pretty much every trail except the highest elevation trails are snow free. Both sad and epic.

There's more to the whole snow making equation than just having cold temps at night.
You also have to factor in the humidity.
I did a Google the other week and learned about Wet Bulb Temperature, which is the key temperature calculation that snowmakers adhere to.

    https://opensnow.com/news/post/snowmaking-explained

My limited understanding indicates that the problem lately has been high humidity at night.

Here's a Wet Bulb Calculator for those who feel like seeing where we're at in terms of resorts being able to make snow
(It's in C, so you'll have to convert temps):

Naw, they should all lay down "astroturf" like Midlothian Snowsports Centre outside of Edinburgh...then Tahoe resorts could offer year-round schuss.

Just got back from Kirkwood. I think you would be disappointed if you didn't bring skis. it was firm AF today but it's the coldest day of the week and on new skis it was still super fun. didn't go past what the top of 5 would be, but on Olympic since there was a ton of activity in the 5/6 zone. Then another lap on awesome chair 8 so Nacho could get a run in too. Worth it though.

The same storm that's been 10 days out for the last month? I'm hoping you're right, but betting against anythingsignificant happening before the 9th.

    Happy danksgiving tgr tahoe fam!
The cold temps, the east wind, and the low November sun angle has proved to be a little trickier finding soft snow compared to the past few weeks but it can still be done. If I was based at kwood I’d go shred thimble bowl on a day with no east wind. One of my pics on previous page has it in the background. Monte’s looks like it has potential as well for an easier to get to hit. Also the mellow westerly gully behind chair 10 and thimble that goes towards silver lake could be good for some afternoon solar sliding.

Anyone get their Snopark pass in the mail yet? My wife admitted today to throwing away all "generic white envelopes" addressed to me recently so i might be SOL.

I think the name of this thread has unneccesarily antagonized summer.
