Just got back from 4 days of heli in a row in Valdez. Stoked on skiing at the moment but not sure when I get back in the mountains other than Memorial Day weekend. Speaking of Memorial Day, Squaw just announced they are planning weekends through Memorial Day. I'll be at Mammoth but maybe close out at Squaw to make the drive home easier...maybe

Skied AM once on Memorial Day. The chutes into Beaver Bowl were excellent. The huge suncups below were the most miserable thing I've ever skied.

KW skied excellent today. Got a few laps with Powdork in the 11:30 - 1 range off 6. Sentinel groomer was fast first lap. Off the beaten track was a mixed bag early. Headed over to 10 next and Eagle Bowl skied really nicely. The top was still a touch firm, but skied well. Laps on 10 until they closed it at 3pm,. Wagonwheel bowl was skiing nicely at that point. Finished on 6 and the bumps and groomers were still great. Had sightings of Vets slipping into Eagle Bowl and Turx and Conders slipping into Meadows 3/4. Or so it looked. Will be back Sunday.

    Good skiing with you today.
On a side (road) note, Blue Lakes road is open to the second gate now

What's the 2nd gate get you? 4th or bust!

Finally got to the top of Tallac this season. Long corn window on the northy sides, but about to get very schwacky at the bottom.

Sorry I missed you. The group I was with had the feeling that we were the only ones skiing Eagle Bowl. Perhaps we had different timing. Plan to return on Sunday too.

Met up with Unpossible at PTOV this morning.
Silly me, I took my slalom skis (165cm, 12.5r) based on how it was on Thursday (boilerplate) and the frost on my deck this morning.
Skiing spring conditions on short carving skis is character building for sure.

Snow was soft and smearable from the get-go.
We ripped all the groomers off Gold Coast before heading to Granite Chief. When that got crowded (and kinda scraped off) we found some nice lesser traveled, quasi off-piste snow off of the Shirley chair.
Broke for lunch around noon and "Mountain Run" was decent top-to-bottom.
I bailed, but Unpossible texted me later to say he ended up lapping our "secret spot" off Shirley apres lunch.
After a week of incredibly variable snow, it was nice to finally ski some semi-corn and score some soft spring schuss.

Believe it or not KW did not get a refreeze last night. It got better as the day went on and people packed down the mank. Was very fun by the end of the day.

Also had by far the largest whoop course I've ever seen. Rides like a dream, an act of collective brilliance. Forgive the ridiculous filter, trying to show the whole thing running fingers to the drain

Jamie thinks it's around $86 plus tax (a shame it's not more like $68)
