Agree 100%, yesterday afternoon session was one of the better in recent memory. North facing steeps were hard-charge chalk and south faces (Sun Bowl / Tower 16 aspect) were smooth and shallow non-stick slush, maybe even corn in a few spots. Hoping today's cold wind doesn't damage any of this goodness!

Have you tried a hairdryer with your existing boots? I injured my ankle years ago and would heat my 150 Doberman to the point it was pretty floppy then slide my foot in without bending the ankle. Then once I was in it was basically like a cast. Then some heating before removal.

On the way to Nevada City to ride bikes, we just noted that the line of cars on 267 is solid from the Truckee airport to N*. Looks like V(F)ail's marketing dept is effective.

Patchy clouds skunked our corn hunt, but we still managed to find soft turns in north trees today.

And some fucking massive surface hoar in a sunny flat clearing. At least a cm big.

thats a great idea! I'm gonna try this first, maybe I can borrow my GFs hairdryer.

Just want to get out for a couple runs, nothing too much yet. trying to make sure that when it snows again I'll have options. Ankle is pretty much healed, but just can't flex it to get it in the boot.

Either that or I'll have to take up snowboarding

Out at Rose for the afternoon today. Crowds dropped quickly after 1:00 pm and I spent most of the day lapping the chutes.

Looking up Chaos late in the day. Saw a kid from one of the teams do a scary slider top to bottom. Fortunately everything was ok. Falling could have serious consequences.

Both yesterday and today at 7:30am traffic was already backed up on 267 from the airport to the bridge crossing Truckee river. From the airport it was clear until pretty close to the N* turnoff. But that’s nuts for that early on a non-holiday weekend.

Lots we’re filled by about 10:30 both days.

Nice chalky snow out there today… best conditions in a few weeks IMO. Could actually get into some interesting spots without worrying about it being too slick. I love weekday skiing…

It'll be dry even longer if you keep talking about it.

It's worth reposting this study about how we are in the climate future of fewer and more extreme storms.

How has Alpine been skiing? Is it groomers only conditions or is their chalk to be found.
