Grudgingly went to Heavenly today since kirkwood didn’t spin anything for my first real turns since breaking my tibia plateau last February. Crowds were light, maybe a 3 chair wait at powder bowl. After a couple runs on Maggie’s they dropped the rope on waterfall, boot deep heavy cream, skied good after it got chopped up also. After about 5 laps on waterfall decided that was enough for a first day and save it for hopefully more terrain tomorrow.
Knee held up so stoked about that.

Am I the only one happy that this storm (so far) has been wetter than expected? Give me a few feet of base building snow over several feet of blower that doesn’t stick the same way.

I was hoping for heavier accumulation at lower elevations than what’s currently happening to open up more bc terrain that was previously snow free.
It's just the labor that I am doing in my driveway that I'm complaining about.

(Reminds me of Jan 2017 we spent living at AM. That was a big winter)

I wouldn't be too worried. on the west side of n upper truckee there was 1-2' this morning in the flats where I walk the dogs and I would say they got 1-2' feet today. That won't translate to firebreak or the heave backside but that part of the storm is upon us like right now. It has changed to fluffy blowy easy to shovel snow at my house at 6,500 on the east side of n upper truckee. It has remained more snowy here than the same elevations along the west and north shore although the top of emerald bay road near inspiration point was caked last night

Ya because I would feel much safer with j1's doing avalanche control. No one takes more daily risk than patrollers. I hope not having a safe mountain is worth demonizing people you don't even know. Tahoe staffing should stay the focus here not people's heath choices. We already have a thread for that.

I'd like to think that if they can't patrol/prep things safely due to staffing shortages, then they wouldn't risk opening up some areas. Safety being the key issue - as in un-vaxed staff is not safe.
All patrollers at SB are fully vaxed. I also believe their patrol is fully staffed. I heard this wasn’t an issue.
^^ yeah, me too. I could go into a whole rant about it but can we all agree to just drop this topic for the Tahoe thread? It’s snowing…
