I too have had to deal with respiratory caca since childhood, and you probably know this trick, but in case not put a pot of water on the stove, throw in a couple heaping spoonfuls of salt, bring to a boil, and hover and inhale the steam. From an old school Pediatrician - helps with the recovery.
On the weather front here's more shit people probably know already...

I've read that surfers get a similar benefit from inhaling the salty ocean spray. Don't surf myself, but I do enjoy long walks on the beach.
Keep that lung butter moving - nothing worse than seeing that muck turn green! Then you're probably in for a dose of antibiotics.
P.S. Enjoy your vids (skiing and dogs). Get/stay well!Last edited by fomofo; 12-31-2021 at 04:10 PM.

Love skiing on New Year's Day--easy to beat the crowds. Don't love --1F. My feet were so numb when I left, I couldn't figure out why my car wouldn't move--because my foot was on the brake, not the gas pedal. OK, it was worth it for the snow, especially when they opened Hidden Bowl. Happy New Year all. Survived another one.

Today was probably the first day I have ever had when pushing out to outer Palisades at the Wood was worth it....until about 245 PM.
Chair 10 windbuff not too shabby either.

^^ I find outer Pali is usually worth it. I did 4 laps in a row on Thursday and was totally worked afterwards but it was the best skiing on the mountain and extremely good out there and worth the effort. Today it did start setting up and you were skiing a more on top of it than through it in the open wind affected sections. The coating they got late yesterday helped though, Fawn Ridge was good as usual today and I got a killer lap in Vista with Ottime while my kids had a lunch break. Nice to be able to fully see everything today with good viz and yeah Chair 10 windbuff rules.

Got up for Lake Run off of Trestle and Donner yesterday. Great snow, particularly off of Trestle.

Been AFK the past four days. That was nice. PD, I ended up not bringing my tour gear; too busy with family responsibilities. Shoot me a text next time and I won't ignore ya. TGR no longer works on my phone, but MashedPotatoes pointed out I could always use my browser. Growth mindset.
The "resort" skied well Thurs-Sun. There were pow stashes all over, along with plenty of wind blown to pursue. Shocked by the amount of air time available. It felt a little more like riding in Telluride than KW with the cold temps and snow conditions. Seemed like anything above treeline was pretty hammered by the winds, but protected trees had untracked powder as late as Saturday. So nice to return to KW after a year away. The terrain is so much fun.
As for Vail, it is unfathomable how they allow that place to be managed worse and worse every year. It is clear they are under staffed, but there seemed to be no plans in place to manage that issue. The executives in charge should be tossed to the curb. It was an utter and complete shit show on Sunday. I skied from opening until 11:30 and got out of there. Had to hitch a ride back to the cabin, as shuttle drivers were told they were not allowed to pick up westbound travelers as they raced along the drive to pick up customers parked out by Caples. Some kind folks from Reno picked me up and they too were escaping what they called a "Squaw Crowd" and heading home.
And for those who were so concerned about drive times, 3:45 from Santa Cruz to parking on the way up. 4 hours on the way home, but that was due to an accident on 17. So, yeah, really not so bad.
Got my fix. Excited to get up again and ski some more blackout days.

No worries on my end. Sunday ended up being 2nd Christmas for the fam that couldn't make it last week.
Sunday was destined to be a cluster there no matter what, IMO. With passes becoming unblocked on the 1st but the wood blocked on Saturdays it was the perfect storm for the legion of Tahoe Value passholders.powdork.com - new and improved, with 20% more dork.

Do you know where your nearest fire hydrant is? These folks in Tahoe Donner used a metal detector to find theirs.
