You’re further up the road than me at least. I wish I was on a gondola instead of this.

What a bummer. The bird was empty yesterday and so good.
Looking at the traffic cams now, bcc is empty and LCC is a fucking ikonic junk show.
Hope they’re all going to Alta cuz I can’t imagine the lines at the bird with 2 lifts spinning so far and only 4 lifts total when they all open.
    We’ll probably head up noonish.
Oh and fuck the ikon pass.

Ah, yeah that's what I miss. To be fair, I would have been at work today anyways.

The Honda Civic in front of me slid off the road… if only we had some kind of law to prevent this from happening

I would be all for a gondola if they had the balls to run it down 9400 South, stop at Alta View Hospital and maybe one other spot, and then connect to a direct xfer to Trax. Then it would be quasi-credible public transit instead of an absurd boondoggle.

If there was a gondola, you'd still be waiting in your car to park and get on it lol

Went up early-ish for a quick one and done before the kids lax game (sick!).
Holy shit show with cars/traffic coming up as I was heading down! t least a half dozen cars off road. People trying to make it up sideways. Wanted to tell the lower half of cars to just bail at that point.

Yesterday was super fun. This morning was all kid stuff and I was planning on going up at noon or one today. Should I even bother today?

No one would be riding the gondola today because it would be closed for the season. It will only operate 120 days per year. Just like the bus wasn't running today.

Glad I hit the mouth early as it sounds like the road was full shitshow, and totally needlessly. Coming down I got stuck behind a semi being escorted down by 2 public safety vehicles. There was at least a foot of snow on the top, so presumably he got caught by the storm yesterday and spent the night. Must have been an expensive mistake.

4 runs in 4 hours, lines were rough. I'm not complaining about face shots but last Sunday's empty 4" was better skiing.

Surfy on top when you wanted that, or deep and face shots when you wanted that. Awesome day at Alta

^^^^^ yep, got to pick and choose! got surprised a few time in those there trees yonder, where the branches must have plinko'd the graupel away but let the fluff stick around. closest calls of the day were white room tree smooches.

in the lift line before opening:
Marketing dude: Hey, you wanna go up with me now?
    Pro bro: No thanks
Alta marketing dude: You sure, you want to wait til opening to ride up?
Pro bro: Yeah I don't feel like stopping and taking pictures today but have fun!

Any word on whether patrol has enough manpower to open some stuff up tomorrow?

Fun day except for fully blowing the drive, not arriving until like 10 and having to park at sunnyside and ride 2 lifts to the first run while watching folks rage down north rus

Probably no point to derail the thread again with anymore gondola talk but wouldn’t the road plus the gondola still be faster than just the road? And as for the operating 120 days a year point, that can always be changed. Just because that is the plan now didn’t mean they won’t change it if the demand is there.

I’d like to see 10 years from now a gondola along with the road having snow sheds. But the truth is, the only change in 10 years will probably be expensive paid parking at Alta and Snowbird.

lets all talk about how we need to get more people up here faster.

'cause that wasn't the talk in the lift line this morning where it was observed that the ditch Civics really slowed things down for those still in line coming up but really improved the skiing for those on the happy side of the circus.

    1. I prefer to keep the discussion grounded in currently verifiable facts and concrete in-writing proposals.

    2. There's year-round demand for the bus right now but they still stop running it mid-April.

That’s actually the best argument against the gondola for me. If we fix the commute, it probably degrades the skiing.
