Thanks to ASP for getting so much terrain open this weekend. Had a blast skiing everything from corn to chalk to pow.

Forecast starting to look like it'll come around in a week-ish!

Kinda like opening bony terrain for in area skiing.
We used to think that it would be negligent to open stuff up with little snow.
That we'd have all kinds of head injuries, etc.
Jerry and Karen have proven otherwise.
Though skis have taken it on the head...
I've thought about this too. I see a lot of people on trails who seem underprepared, i.e. no visible water/headlamp/backpack/warm clothing/etc. But I follow SLCO SAR and don't see these hundreds of people getting rescued (not to diminish the burden on SAR)! So they must be getting down alright.

Anyone know if there is some sort of concerted effort to get more terrain open than usual? I don't think main chute opened last year until, what, February? March?

Also I have been pleasantly surprised by the lack of lift lines! Last year collins on weekends was a total mess, but I havent really waited at all this year (albeit using singles line and mid-station past 11).

seems like a concerted effort to get us all to beat down the facets in as many places as possible, plus a higher water content base that is sticking to rocks more than normal.

It was climbers on the South Ridge, they had rope and stabby implements and such but were unroped at the time.

    Got it.
Maybe you'd like to enlighten us all with your shit from days gone by, eh?
    Being young and all...
TFW, I for one fucking dig your stories. Keep em up, makes these low tide days (weeks) go by easier.

Maybe touring sedan can regale us with stories of his fatbiking cosplay adventures too. We're an inclusive bunch here. No judgement.

I don't remember if I ever thanked you for taking the time to chat about patrolling as a career change a couple years back, but I really did appreciate it. Had COVID not changed my world I was pretty damn close to pulling the trigger, even if you did try to dissaude me.

Main chute opened the 27th and 28th of December last year and then was closed again until like feburary.

But yeah seems like a huge push to open terrain. The east baldy booter and the long way 'round to highboy are new ones for me. They are both skiing good so I'm stoked.
