Wasatch 21/22 - We're All Here 'Cause We're Not All There!

PC can be fun, especially if you set your expectations properly. Fun place to cruise around, ski into town for a drink at high west (right by the town lift), slice at davanzas and some high speed groomers in the morning before the crowds.

So if you have another day and don’t feel like paying for a ticket at the Ikon resorts, then it can be fun in a chill way.

Best stores in the SLC metro to find a non-airbag avy backpack? I know of EVO, Backcountry and LevelNine. I'd prefer to keep with local shops, but looking for a selection so I can compare (small liter sized, under 25l). Passing through from Montana.

Backcountry in west valley is the best place to try stuff on. Shamelessly request that they bring any inventory from their site that interests you and fondle it to your hearts delight. Then leave and go buy local or used

Also good to compare at REI. Wasatch touring downtown, sports den, powder house on 6200 s near base of canyons, lift house at bottom of bcc, not sure what their inventories are on packs but good places to check out

North faces still holding good dry snow, but it's variable. Didn't need sharp things today, but the thought crossed my mind a couple times

Skied Nordic Valley and the new 6-pack chair there. It would be a blast on a powder day skiing uncrowded mellow pow - the terrain of that lift is all blue but decent- and it looked like touring above it to 8000' to ski down to the resort also would be fun. Some nice mellow gully lines up there.

I was expecting a slightly slushy ski day at such a low base elevation of 5400' but it was all frozen solid, even the groomers. Fack. Inversion made it colder than Snowbasin or any other LCC or BCC area and I was also skiing below the smog line which sucked. Off the groomers was some frozen chop-chunk that would be a great way to blow a knee at high speed. Oh well.

If they build bike trails off that new lift though it would be dreamy.

I was there Monday for the first time as well.

Sick conditions. Good, solid variable conditions shaded aspects. Hard to convey how happy I am with variable snow! Even got some soft & cold for a few turns today.

I'll be skiing alta bird or whatever next Sunday through Wednesday. If anyone wants to make some turns please PM me. I will be solo. I have toured up grizzly gulch before and would love to get a day in of that or anything else, but not going solo.

Happy trails. Another wind hold day here in NH.

Great to be back in the alpine after almost 2 years, I had missed it bad. Coverage up high isn't as good as I expected based on what the mid-elevations look like. Winds must have been out of this world to move that much snow around. S facing skied great, soft down low but bulletproof at 11k. Guess i need to revise my January corn timing. Anything N, E, or W was super stiff but edgeable. Cold smoke still lurks in well protected nooks but it requires some serious effort to find up high.
Watched a couple people style it down the NW couloir despite the entrance being in the worst shape I've seen in forever. Great to see people getting after it!

Rights good, lefts the one that sucks. I was third in with one of the two in front being on skins so it was effectively setting the side step. It sucked but the reward was worth it. On another note the high t is heinous. Use caution

Snowbasin was fun today. Mostly firm groomers that softened and held up for the better part of the day. Strawberry was the place to be. Sun was out playing hide and seek with scattered clouds, but didn’t trash the snow. Best of all…No crowds!

Got up Fantasy Ridge over the weekend. Pretty neat inbounds terrain.

Hoping to get up and do more touring this week now that the rose is green
