Exceptional skiing this morning, snow got really wet this afternoon. I would anticipate lots of crusts tomorrow

What a great way to close out the season. Back to normal April non-crowds and the snow was still great. I wish you could see his face because this guy was stoked.

Swapped 20" in the Wasatch for 4-5" in the La Sals. I suspect it was pretty close to peak La Sals conditions? Worth.

Cool mountains - that big mountain feel - but kind of a small range, huh? I thought our line off Little Tuk - perhaps called Exxon's Folly? - was the best line. NE Tuk was fun with a pretty good upper section and a tight, surprisingly steep traverse to navigate a rock band, but it wasn't particularly remarkable imo. N Tuk looks really cool and is steeper, but it looked pretty icy so we opted for better skiing in NE. Got first tracks down everything, which was a great bonus.

Complete long shot here but we’ll try anyway.
Anyone holding a Soli pass for tomorrow they’d be willing to part with?

40°F and raining at Wildcat base. Could help the corn situation.

Website currently is reporting 6". Why does Alta keep count after they close down?

Website is tied into the Collins study plot and automatically updates. Alta keeps track of yearly snow for season totals until May 1st.

Right. Because there is no way that LCC get 100+" of snow from April 1-17 when it closes.

Alta records snow and water equivalent November - April.
    The winter months.
    Snowbird the same.
Though snow amounts can differ through a marketing lens...

Yesterday was just one of those days where if you played your cards right you were rewarded with corn all day

Set the booter up the NW couloir, but didn't ski it because we're really nice

Always a joy to ski the east side

Skied fine and there was less then that last picture would make you believe. That said, dirty snow does become stickier sooner

I was the only one booting from the apron because I don't have ski crampons for my bindings. My partners skinned about 3/4s the way up the couloir. Wanted to give the mistress some options ya know??

BUT I personally prefer to boot up couloirs I'm going to ski if possible. I'd rather preserve the snow surface more for the descent but I guess some people like to ski over a skinner hundreds of times. Haha

Hahaha Ben mentioned the Moses couloir is your favorite ascent on the mountain. And yes, I'm proposing a new name for it -- nohow's name for it, Genesis couloir, doesn't make sense since Nebo isn't from or mentioned in the Book of Genesis, it's most famously mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy (where Moses dies) and then again in the second book of Maccabees. (Yes, I googled that) Other notable names I've heard it called are Jimmy's line (but I feel like there's a group of alta patrollers that call everything Jimmy's line because well, they know their history) or the west couloir.

    What does TFW call it?

We never intended to ski the NW couloir yesterday and the snow wasn't great in there, kind of a mixed bag of punchy new snow. We were after corn and that's exactly what we got, on both runs.

    Who is CG btw?

Wish I could keep up with folks like you and Benneke10.
    Those days are gone...

Don't have names for many places / lines.
Kinda always used the compass for stuff off of peaks and names for stuff off of ridge lines.

CG had ig photos w/ your boot track in them.

Genesis seems to have enabled the corresponding name "Garden of Skiden" which is pretty rad

I like compass for sure, like on the Pfeiff. Brilliant lines with simple names. And it's probably the easiest way to avoid feat trespassing. But I love a well-named line like the Lightning Bolt or the Dolphin or Piece of Pie.
