Had a Tacoma for ten years mostly out west. Beat the shit out of it. Frame rusted out when I moved back east. Last year of the buy back got $11000, it was On its last legs. Lucked out big.
Bought a 2010 tundra with 60,000 miles now has 140,000. All my idiots lights went on about a month ago. It drives like shit now. If I take the battery cables off then back on it runs normal for a bit then the lights come back. Anybody have this happen?

32k. Might be trading it in, tires are almost worn out.

Carmax offered $38k which is about what I paid. I could use a better work truck/van.

2007 SCRB 4.7 with 52k I just picked up. 209” overall length which is shorter than a modern tacoma, easy to maneuver and park.

Thanks J, It’s quite a find, never been worked, never seen salt, pretty stoked to turn it into my camping rig. I think they only made about 6000 in this configuration through the years. I paid dearly for it, but I’ve read these go forever with the 4.7 especially. The cab is huge, lots of room behind the seats. The doors are hilarious, like 5’ long. Thinking about an electric car now for my second rig to offset the dismal mpg.

08 Tundra. 5.7L. Bought in new. 38,000. Not my everyday driver. Got a 97 Dodge Ram I use as my winter / road salt beater - 230k on it.

Damn, that thing looks like it came off the showroom floor. Score!

Speaking of Tundra's (well, Sequoia in my case), I went with a slightly larger tire (275/70R18 Grabber A/Tx) than stock for my 2008 this past winter. Haven't seen a big MPG hit (non-e rated version). Did it mostly to fill the wheel-well a bit more but was also blown away by the snow performance (previously had LTX M/S). Haven't had a single issue, just standard maintenance. Going to keep this thing for another 14 years or more.

Nice, I’ve been looking for all terrain tires that will do well in snow, those might be the ticket.

I had those General Grabbers and thought they did really well in snow for the first year or two, but significantly degraded on that front on the back end of their lifecycle, enough so that I didn't get them again.

Wait, you have an 08 Tundra with only 38,000 miles on it? Are you a little old lady who only drives it to church?

If you spend much time on snow, this is the way. It's such a huge difference on snowpacked roads.

Yeah, much as I need good snow performance, even in winter a hudge amount of my driving is on pavement. So I get AT tires with the mountain snowflake as a compromise. If I lived at higher elevation, I would get dedicated snows.

I have an 04 Tundra double cab with a tall topper with 185k miles and have nothing but love for it. I bought it through a friend of the family at a dealers’ auction in Florida in 08 with 95k miles for $10 grand and could probably sell it for the same today. It only goes out for fun and hauling and I plan to keep it until one of my adolescent sons wreck it or move out and make it their first home away from home.

The paint on the roof and hood has deteriorated in the past few years and I have a bit of rust on the roof now. Any advice from the collective as to the need to fix this? Can I let it be or will it end up with a leaky roof before the end of its usable life?

My '13 Tundra reg cab 5.7. Purchased used w 24,000 miles in '15 sight unseen from LA after a previous run up in gas prices now has 65,000 miles. It was stock, but have since put on some heavier leaf springs, new shocks, tires, and a 1" lift.

Same on my 2010 Tundra Limited with 70k.
Got a few hits from rocks right above the windshield where the roof starts. It’s probably time to get it fixed up.

Sand it down, Acetone, and Primer, then Paint. If you get a windshield changed, have them do the same because chances are it'll have rust under there as well.

I learned this the hard way. My old '98 was a perfectly functioning truck but I couldn't get another windshield in it because the rust was so bad. Mainly because I got a shitty windshield install at Safelite. Then one day I accidentally spider webbed it due to a freak accident with a bike pump. Traded the truck in soon after. Still miss that old truck.

Nice. That’s the hot rod version of mine.
