Lost/Stolen skis and bindings per UPS

Looking for advice from the maggot collective:

So, my dad has helped me out by shipping some new skis and bindings that I had bought as there is no direct shipping to Japan. Over three weeks ago, he sent them express through UPS and they never even made it out of Georgia. He has made a claim for reimbursement for the two packages (skis and bindings) as well as shipping fees.

Have any of you had this? How did you deal with it? Were you fully compensated for lost/stolen items as well as shipping? How long did it take? Anything that I can do to expedite this process short of flying home, going postal, and missing out on epic powder skiing in Japan the rest of my life? Honestly cant fucking believe this shit.

Georgia? How can you allow your dad to live there, don't you love him?

Basically they're gone and you'll get nothing.
Took me like 10 minutes to figure out how to change this shit

    were they insured ?

you will need to find And fund replacement skis while this takes six diligent months to get sorted-out...

You’ll get $100/package unless your dad declared a higher value.

Definitely confirm with UPS that they are truly lost, although it may be hard to believe anything they tell you. I finally received a pair of skis last week from the east coast after almost three weeks of "severe weather delay"

You sure about that? (In Canada) most shipping companies will pay out something like 50 cents per pound of the lost package, unless you insured it.

Either way the shipper (Dad) will need to initiate the claim process through UPS.

Yeah had insurance thankfully but just under cost of both items. Guess they could’ve not been insured then completely facked. WTF steals skis in Georgia?!

I’ve dealt with UPS on the Japan side and they’ve said the package is lost. Dad is dealing with it on the Ga side. Guess we, hopefully, will get the insured amount back a some point in 2022!

Yeah cheers mate he’s already started that. I’m sure it’ll take awhile to actually get it but as long as we can recover the insurance plus shipping I guess I should be grateful.

It's sitting in a terminal somewhere in a pile of freight, lost.

Best case scenario--you collect the insurance and the package shows up later. If it's still in the hands of UPS the chances are good that it will show up at some point, unless the label got ripped off.

FWIW - freight seems to be backed up. I bought a pellet stove from HD (online) and it's overdue at the HD store by a more than a week. The folks at the store have no info other than it shipped and is en route.

Will see what happens! Hoping for the best but expecting it’ll be awhile.
