Tools needed for pulling a chair

Not the best pic, but probably enough of a pic for those in the know.

It’s your classic double fixed chair from sixty years ago in Japan. The resort is closed. There are a few chairs at the base. I want to steal one.

What tools do I need to pull one?

A larger adjustable wrench will get the job done. Just loosen the nut on the side of the grip and you should be able to lift it up and off.

Cheers, mate. Stoked to read there isn’t a special tool involved.

Now that I think about, there is a special tool: a fucking huge wrench. Those things are on there tight so you need a ton of leverage. Find a metal pipe or something, about 2.5-3ft long, that you can stick the handle of the wrench into.

How about a torque wrench and socket head? Is it just an open nut or two?

How long is the torque wrench? Should work but it’ll take some force. And yes, just an open nut. Can’t remember the size.

Nah, I've heard prison in Japan is like staying at the holiday inn. Not luxurious but way better than sleeping in your car.
Brandine: Now Cletus, if I catch you with pig lipstick on your collar one more time you ain't gonna be allowed to sleep in the barn no more!
    Cletus: Duly noted.

Fuck that - those things are going to be rusted up like a motha. Either a portable cutting torch (they make some small backpack ones) or a battery operated angle grinder and cut it off.

I’m pretty sure you’re already aware of the consequences, but just in case there’s a big old fucking reminder.

I can’t see exactly what manufacturer that is or other bits of info, but be prepared to either remove a cotter pin (big linesmen pliers work well) , or a roll pin (hammer and punch of the right size). It’s kinda like the last ditch safety so the nut can’t back off. Also like others have said, it may be rusted to fuck of its been there a while, so bring some weasel piss (penetrating oil).

Thanks for all the thoughts and hints. It’ll be a few weeks until the opportunity lines up. Maybe even spring would be best to counter the undergrowth. Hard to even walk.

subscribed for the future grand larceny, TR & jail house shower scene in the Lifetime afternoon special on the incident

50cm galv pipe isn't lightweight; and that mast is bigger than it looks -- bring a friend [that's what she said]
    for the shower scene too
