That always pissed me off. A thousand fire departments in places that will never see a terrorist act printing t shirts and negotiating better pay and pensions for themselves, because, who would deny a first responder? And the cops in the same towns turning into para military units with all the gear and toys.

FFS, you should see the fires they are fighting right now. I have a cousin in Cali rotating in and out of the Caldor and other nightmares. There's more than enough carnage and Armageddon to go around.

Firefighters deserve every penny they can negotiate and sometimes more. Equating them with the small town donut patrol is way off the mark.

My thoughts exactly. Some police may sign up to be cops for the power trip. Firefighters sign up to literally run into a burning building to save whoever is in there. 9/11 happened in New York, but does anyone think that if the planes had hit buildings in Chicago, or Seattle, or LA, that the firefighters there wouldn't have done the same thing, with the same result? New York firefighters are the same as the firefighters elsewhere, and I say that with no disrespect, because I will always have mad respect for firefighters. They all deserve every penny.

We should pay firefighters well for all the training they do and the responsibility they take on - regardless of whether or not they ever face danger on par with 9/11.

Who the fuck would advocate waiting for first responders to go through PTSD inducing shit and only then paying them well?

fyi for accuracy…. that Beamer transcript wasn’t real, I guess. Looked into it (should’ve done that first) and apparently the call wasn’t recorded. The 911 operator has given interviews I guess to recount the call.

I’d seen that transcript posted a few times over the weekend and I was pretty skeptical it was real but never got around to looking further. I hate fake heart string shit like that

Honestly, the first time I saw it I had to stop myself from posting that there is no fucking way that is real but being it was 911 just let it slide.

Skidog you make an awful lot of assumptions about people and their lives and experiences and fit them to your narrative, not uncommon.

Maybe look at yourself in the mirror and ask if this is who you want to be.

    Goodbye.

We are comparing experiences to levels of grief, which don’t equate. Obviously the people who were there had different, probably much more traumatic experiences, than those who weren’t.

Back on track, I’m amazed by the emotions that that day still brings me. Nothing chokes me up like the thought of 9/11.

There is a 5 part series on Netflix that I started last night, called Turning Point. Through the first two hour long episodes. My first impression thus far is that it’s extremely well put together and worth the watch.

    Yup.

He also thinks he was at 9/11 when he wasn’t.

    Pretty embarrassing for him.
