If it has Keanu in it, it's gonna suck.

I'm pretty confident it'll be terrible.

But I'm still 100% gonna see it. Might even venture back into the movie theaters for this one.

It looks like a rehash of the same action sequences of the first three. And Neo will be played by John Wick.

Looks intriguing. They lost me in part 2 with the terrible cave rave.
The original movie is still very good.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

In case you haven't seen the Animatrix, here's a quick recap of what led to the creation of the Matrix. In a nutshell, humans were kind of dicks to the robots.

Now if you haven't seen it, GO WATCH IT!!! Kind of like an animated Matrix anthology collection by a variety of directors/animators. Think Love, Death + Robots for the Matrix. The comic book sets (graphic novels?) were also pretty great. Dive into all that for a deeper appreciation for the Matrix films. Hopefully the new film won't muck any of that up, because so far the whole Matrix universe has been surprisingly coherent if you take it all in as a whole. Worth checking out.

I remember going to a free preview of the first one and leaving half way through because I was laughing so much. Lord can’t this cornball disappear

I inadvertently saw it last night.

It should have been titled The Meh-trix.

I yammered a bit more (and mostly spoiler free) here:

Aww man. Bummer. Guess I'm glad IMAX tix were sold out for today then. Haha. Will still catch it, but no rush now I suppose.

I was trying to see Nightmare Alley, but the theater was full and this was the only other film playing around the same time (The King's Man was my preferred second choice, but the times were too late).

I paid $9 and felt that was a bit steep.

All of the trailers combined make a better (and way shorter) film, imho.

Sadly I agree. Lol at “Meh-trix” exactly the name I thought of when watching it.

It was the fourth lamest blockbuster I saw in 2021, the others being F9, No Time To Die, and Shang-Chi....
And it was easily the dumbest and most cringe-worthy of the lot, with the exception of F9; I literally felt brain cells dying off the longer I watched that. The Matrix Resurrections just annoyed me.

I have HBO+ so it’s free. Do I need to watch the previous movies for refresher?

Nope. They'll just remind you of how crappy the new film is.
Plus, Lana W. includes so many flashback clips from the other films, that you are constantly reminded that the original Matrix might have been a fluke...

    Of course YMMV...
