Any beta on 93 N or yoho? I’m at Rogers and it was less than stellar today. Boot packed from the car up to 1600m as the skin track was heinous from the crust. Then whiteout and dust on crust above 2000m. Then whiteout with decent skiing above2100m. Thinking about changing plans and heading to 93 N/yoho tomorrow. Just wondering how the crust and skiing is above 2000m.

Rain up to around 2200m to 2400m around 93N/S, can't speak to Yoho.

Bow summit weather plot sitting at 2040m. Getting closer to the freezing level. Haven’t been out since the rain/snow event, otherwise I’d give u more info...good luck. Report back!

Had a fun couple days at LL. Great mountain. Skied all over and found lots of decent snow. Got my first powder turns of the year today when they opened Headwall Bowl area. Lapped that till it was tracked out. Would have loved to explore West Bowl, next time I guess. Thanks Canada, adios!

Also, I rode lifts with so many cool people from Canmore, Banff, Calgary, and Golden. One guy said he'd been skiing Lake Louise for 60 years. If I rode with somebody who seemed like they knew the mountain I usually followed them shamelessly and that led to some good skiing. They didn't seem to mind. Last night in the restaurant ski patrol (volunteers?) were having a banquet and honoring a guy who'd been doing it almost 30 years. I eavesdropped on the whole thing. Just seems like a great ski culture here. Anybody would be lucky to call LL their home mountain. I am definitely coming back for more in-depth exploration.

Headwall was megashark last I got a chance to approach there. Got stuck in a traverse and had the only non-pussy way out being a 10 foot kicker over the rocks to thankfully soft snow. 2 weeks ago though, and I guess what you see there is a week of no-access due to WC.

Surprised the west isn't open yet though, it was open by now last year on a thinner base. Snowpack must be suspect.

From what I heard they kept it closed because the traverse back crosses the world cup course. It will probably open tomorrow as I'm driving back to Montana.

Was up around lake louise for the first time just alpine skiing but went for a walk along the actual lake and the terrain seems quite enchanting. I found the confessions of a ski bum guidebook resources but it appears he doesn't actually cover the lake louise/morraine lake area. any other resources to check out?

    thanks

Sounds like they had parks in doing a big sweep of lipillian. Pretty impressive slide in there that wasn't reported and had tracks in it.
Also west bowl control produced some good results.

@m-ruta 's website has a bunch of trip reports on some of the more interesting steep lines in the Lake Louise area. It's more of a blog than guide, but it is really interesting reading.

    https://mattruta.com/category/trip-reports/

Other resources are Will Sim's site
https://backcountry-beta.com/ with a handful of tours around lake louise

    and this one

    https://seethenski.wordpress.com/category/lake-louise/

This guidebook seems to be out of print, but you might be able to snag a copy.

    https://www.backcountryskiingcanada....ouring%20Guide.

The tours are pretty popular and obvious though.

The backcountry yyc facebook group has recent conditions and trip reports.

And Vern is usually more interested in getting summits than turns, but he has a handful of trip reports from the resort and lake side of lake louise.

There are a few trade routes in that general area that the google machine should be able to point you to, but like @mntlion says, its big terrain so deal with that accordingly.

Marmot pulled another 25ish from this storm. Skiing very well, fun day out today with the Knob staying closed yesterday.

I’m headed up North from Eastern WA on Saturday. Any thoughts on if I should head to Revy or LL? Both equidistant and I’m open to wherever has the best snow/runs open.

Can’t speak first hand on Revy, but their website seems to indicate that they’re downloading from the top of the gondola?

    LL is skiing great.

see what the rain vs snow line is doing, Odds are either will be good. Reve CAN get wet, LL will not melt out (and has just about all terrain open, and is skiing great)

LL is a safer bet, Reve is higher risk stock.

For what it’s worth, I prefer the terrain/layout of Louise over Revy.

My take would be kicking horse, it’s absolutely unreal right now. And I’m sure they’ll be working on opening up more of the mountain the next week, and mid mountain is skiing well now with the most recent storm.

    no, No, NO!

Reve is where ALL the cool kids are, that is 100% where you want to be, Lake louise has not been cool since '94 adn RAP films.

Revelstoke skiing fairly well this weekend although could do with a bit more snow. Was with the little one so wasn’t able to poke around too much. Not a big deal IMO to download the gondola since I don’t spend much time skiing below the chairs usually.
I enjoy Lake Louise. The snowfall can be mediocre on average but it’s a great choice if they’re having good weather, which I think they are
