It has been pissing rain in town here since 3:30 or so. The webcams look snowy so far, hopefully not much warm up over night. Looks like another 36 or so hours of this.

good news 20+ cm at LL

bad news: 0 at the base and temps will rise today.

Good news: storm is lasting 24-48 hours, so tomorrow might be the day.

Planning to drive up to LL on Friday and ski Sat./Sun. if covid and/or warm temps don't fuck me over. Appreciate the reports on current conditions.

Current SSV report is so FKD. They state -6 for a high today and seem to forget its Wednesday. Its already registering 0 and -1 right now. Its either incompetance or willfully leaving out details like forecast warm temps and rain that might make you stay home. Looking forward to the passing of this system and a cooling trend.

Yeah, even looking at Louise web came right now all of them are showing above zero Temps. Pissing rain in canmore all night and currently. Freezing level looks damn high from what I can tell already. Maybe 2000m at least

Marmot only called 9cms new, once it gets light enough I will look at the webcams for better upper mountain conditions. It looks like snow not rain over night down low but more like graupple or ice pellets.

Good to hear. At what elevation did the snow turn to rain? You think best to hit LL, or SSV?

Yeah from friends that work up there that was kind of a general impression from this morning. The the way the weather is there will not be any Heli bombing happening. I'm not sure if they still use remote charges on there either.

Fernie's opening has been delayed. From their Facebook page:

"Hello everyone - thanks for tuning in to Fernie Alpine Resort's Opening Day update.
The recent storms have left us with very little to work with on the mountain. We are switching our planned opening from December 4 to day-by-day as temperatures cool and the snow starts to fall.
We are looking to open as soon as possible, with our sights currently set on mid-week, next week if conditions allow.
Snowmaking will resume Thursday night, and we expect small accumulations throughout the weekend and into early next week.
We will update our status regularly as the week progresses. Please check our snow report for these updates. Once our opening decision has been made, we will announce it on our social media, website and snow report.
We appreciate your patience during these unprecedented weather events.
Stay safe and well, and we'll see you on the mountain soon.
    - Fernie Alpine Resort"

Well, got my covid test, completed the ArriveCanada app, now I just have to hopefully get through the border tomorrow without getting flagged for the random test, just because I don't want the hassle. Be on the mountain Saturday and Sunday if all goes as planned. Green Marmot coat and brown Flylow pants, if anybody is around ask for change. Another 8.6 inches last night, looks like it's setting up to be some pretty decent skiing if it didn't get too warm the past couple days. I'm psyched.

today at LL did not suck at all.

10-50cm, some blue sky, other then gondi at 9:30 no real lineups.

paradise bowl with no bumps was a treat too.

    great conditions for mid Feb
