F1 VS F1LT
Looking to expand my boot quiver. I am currently in the Technica ZGTP and looking for something with a bigger range of motion.
I had the F1s for about a season a few years ago but found my foot kinda swimming in them. I see the F1LT has a narrower last (I have a super narrow foot).
Ill be touring mostly in the PNW and will probably use this boot for most applications, other than big pow days. They will be paired with skis ranging from 98-88mm under foot (Dyanfit blacklight, Dynastar Mythic, Blizzard 0G).
Does anyone have any insight on both of these boots?
Thanks

I've only been in the F1Lt, but it doesn't feel that narrow to me. I have a wide forefoot, and usually need as wide of a toe box as possible, but the F1LT is fine for me without any punches after a liner mold. Not sure why that is, butI believe that while it shares a lower shell with the narrow Alien RS, the boot board is actually lower in that shell, so it feels wider. Sorry, I know, anecdotal evidence, but in my experience the F1LT doesn't have an exceptionally "narrow" fit.
Performance wise, I love the boot, it walks really well and, in anything short of terrible snow, I've found that I can drive skis up to 112 underfoot with it with no problems.

Alien RS is definitely more narrow than 0GTP, looking forward to trying the F1LT.
The ROM in the Alien RS is so good you can actually run in them, or jump from boulder to boulder. It's crazy.

I'm just in the stock F1LT liner. For what I'm using them for, and for my feet, that combo is damn near perfect. They do a really good job of being consistent when you flex into them, and not having any weird pain/pressure points around the cuff, even when a chonky dude (200+lbs geared up) who skis poorly decides to drive fat skis with them. Big fan.

Apparently the ROM is such that you can run a marathon in technica ZG boots as well

I've been digging my LTs. Came from the F1s, which fit my medium wide but quite flat feet really well. I had to go through a second fitting with the LTs to get enough space in them, but I still managed with the stock liner and without a punch. But I agree they're not ultra-narrow.
Stiffer and lighter than the F1s, I'm awfully happy with them after 30 or so days in 'em.

Just received F1-LT in 27 (I'm a US-9, 26.5 in Cochise/ZeroG), looking forward to trying them out. They do feel a bit wider than the Alien RS, and maybe it's my imagination but they feel a hair shorter in length (if between sizes, definitely go up). Slight liner difference maybe, and a bit of packing out will take care of that. The buckle on the main velcro strap works great, and it can easily make the strap way tighter than you want. Soft flex, but supportive and feel like they should drive a sub-1,600g ski plenty well enough. Might try a Bontex shim (wish they were lighter) under the liner, would rather have foot against the top of the shell and minimize tightening the BOA to fit.
Definitely like the secure feeling of the buckle closure and won't mind the extra transition time compared to RS, since I'm slow to transition anyway.Last edited by 1000-oaks; 11-06-2021 at 12:01 PM.

Anyone tried punching these boots yet? Curious how the carbon filled plastic would do

I owned both the F1 and F1 LT last season, ended up selling the F1. The F1 is a bit wider and roomier, but as others have mentioned, the LT isn’t exceptionally narrow. I have a low instep and despite a significant shim under the liner, still struggle to get boot tight enough with the boa. I had the same problem with the F1, but the plastic tongue made it even harder for the boa to get the forefoot tight.
The F1 is a cult classic but feels like a dated design to me. It’s not that light, skis just a touch better than the LT (feels more like a real ski boot) but tours much worse. If it fits, the F1 LT skis really well for what it is and tours like crazy. It’s been more durable for me than the Alien RS. If you want a touch more boot than the LT, I’d look elsewhere beyond the F1 (Skorpius?).
If you’ve never skied a boot like the LT that has no tongue, it’s definitely a different feel. The absolute stiffness is there, but with less plastic contacting your foot and leg, they feel less like a “real” ski boot. Still, pretty dang amazing.

I came to the F1LTs from the Alien RS and have no first-hand experience with the F1. The fit is approximately the same, though part of the bootboard/liner differences made enough of a difference that I lost both big toenails on big days in the F1LT while I could handle the same huge days in the RS without an issue there. Skiability is hugely improved, it's not even close and the F1LT can actually drive decent-sized skis while I was never able to get the slop out of the RS.
If it fits your foot, having an F1LT plus a ZGTP would be a great combo - I have the F1LT and a Hawx XTD and am very happy with the combo, covers big mountaineering days, pow yoyo laps, shorter touring days where I want more power, and inbounds well."High risers are for people with fused ankles, jongs and dudes who are too fat to see their dick or touch their toes.

I have the F1 LT and Hawx XTD and use them on the same skis. BSL on the scarpa is 302 and atomic is 312, both in 27.5
