Bad Mail Carriers
Our rural mail carrier has started leaving all packages at the end of driveways. Open discussion on Facebook and Nextdoor…
Anyone dealt with this?
After hearing of numerous complaints to the postmaster gone all but ignored I doubt any level of complaints will change the situation.

Mailbox is at the end of the driveway? Makes sense to leave it there.
Larger discussion is that rural mail shouldn't be delivered. Make people go to the post office and get the postal service out of the red ink.

General Guidelines and Policies for Rural Delivery
For Accountable mail items and oversized parcels (not postage due), the carrier must try to gain the attention of the recipient, which includes honking their horn, in order to get them to come to the vehicle. If the customer doesn't come out and the house/delivery point is within 1/2 mile of the line of travel AND has a passable road, the carrier should attempt to deliver it. Otherwise, the carrier will leave PS Form 3849 and the customer will have to make arrangements to obtain the item.

Don't packages come from UPS / FedEx / direct from Amazon?
Around here they do.. but I'm unquestionably suburban. I can't remember the last time we got a package from USPS, and the wife is a prolific online shopper (for regular shit like dish soap, just avoids stores when possible) so we have multiple deliveries per day.
Maybe I'm unfamiliar with rural mail.

I got a job box up at the mailbox for them to leave packages in. I don't want them coming to the door, it's usually during nap time and the dogs go berserk.

And the 2021 geriatric thread of the year candidates are:
1) bitching about the postal service
2) high speed detachable quads are too fast
3) mahjong, a discussionI still call it The Jake.

Hmm. they (Bezos) have a facility a town over (<10 miles) with a fleet of 100+ vans so do all their own delivery. Clearly I'm out of my element here.
Carry on.

Amazon has a contract to use usps for the last mile in those areas where they can’t make money.
Two or three years ago Amazon used ups. But ups local depot got pissed and just threw them in storage containers for weeks of delay.
Bezos sucks. There’s a thread for that.. . .

Sorry-> carrier delivered a package that was the size of a ottoman today. It wasn’t a mailbox it was a bunch of electric fence insulators. Carrier marked that it was left inside the mailbox. (We have a normal sized mailbox)

It can also work in your favor. I recently ordered about $500 of outdoor equipment from an internet retailer. Shipper claimed the package was delivered, when it had not. I called them five minutes after the delivery notice to dispute. Even sent a photo of our front porch asking driver to show where he left it.
After two days, I got a refund. The day after that a neighbor from two blocks down comes to the door telling me there’s a large package at her house addressed to me. Yup it’s the stuff I ordered.

It wasn't slimy so probably the latter.
Don't you have your own patriots with fancy signatures? Why do you have to steal ours?
We get our old passport back by regular mail, voided, and the new one by USPS Priority Mail, which you have to pay for ahead of time.
The one sent to me was probably the old one. Since you only get a new passport every ten years and since they send back the old one first the tendency is to think they fucked up and sent the old one instead of the new. It is nice to have the old one to reminisce with--sometimes they don't send it.

'Why is a soap bubble round?' 'Cause it is its most efficient shape'
I could have said Laura Secord, but at best you would only be thinking chocolate, at worst it would bring bouts of rage over getting your White House razed to the ground.
Getting the old passport back is hit or miss, depending on the method of renewal. I've only retained about half of mine.
