Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Reggae Giant and Dub Pioneer RIP

    https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...-obit-1045198/

Saw him a couple of times at the Fox theater in Boulder with friends, he had a little bicycle horn he would squeeze off and on during the show, total madman and one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

Came here to post the same— saw him at Harpers Ferry in Boston ~10 years back and it was pretty wild fun. RIP to a legend.

Fuck. The Lee Scratch Perry and the Upsetters Boxed Set is one of my favorites of all music. Serious late night sitting around with a candle stoned to the bejeezus music. RIP. I am glad I got a chance to see him in '98 in Winooski.

Disco Devil.... Saw LSP perform once in lower Manhattan at SOBs early 2000s. Had a nurse with him, and impressively had dozens of joints taped to his clothes and sneakers.

this one bob and lee did together when they lived in exil in london.
bob marley was created by lee and left and became a star.

this is when they reunited. lee was heavy drinking in london.... and they both enjoyed the punk scene

the song gets a nice swing at min 4:30 and tries to imitate dub to the end with not leaving the rootsreggae vibe

Awe,bummed to hear this. Saw him in Vancouver a few years back. After a hard life and at 81, he was going so hard. Such a great concert! He was taking drinks and smokes from the crowd all night. A legend, no doubt.
